We go to WDW in august thanks to free dining and in april like to take another trip! I have 4 kids, the hubby and I. Last 2 years we have been to cali north and south and a small trip to vegas! This year we wanted to go to grand canyon....I just lost my job so money is about to get tight! I still figure we could go away but somewhere close so we can drive airfare for six is always expensive. Although I always shop around and find good deals! Anyway...I really didnt want to head south we have driven south so many times and worried my hubby will insist we go visit (THE INLAWS) in fl....while we are south. I was thinking niagra falls but its probably cold in april! so west? any ideas? BTW what are the outer banks? that in NC? I mean we really want warm....so i guess it may have to be south! bring on the ideas!!!!! PLZ!

Hi, Jersey Mom here. I have also been looking into Spring Break ideas. I think we will be heading down to Atlanta. It is a doable one day drive. There are a lot of kid friendly activitives. There is a Coca Cola tour, CNN, zoo aquarium, civil war sites/museums, etc.

We're taking a cruise out of NYC in November. It's going to cost $5000 for NINE of us, meals included. We have 3 balconly cabins, so we could've done it cheaper. We've done the RHR, and cruising is definitely cheaper.

Hi, I'm not the OP, but I am also a Long Island mom, about to be unemployed, also with 4 children. My dd is turning Sweet 16 in November, and would rather go on a nice vacation than have a big party. Would you mind sharing the details of your trip? Where your going, who you booked thru, cruise line, etc.? I would really appreciate it!!!!!!:goodvibes

I'm an NC-er who just moved away from the Outer Banks and I MISS IT. It is BEAUTIFUL down there, and April has some great prices in hotels because beach season doesn't really start until May. You can rent a house for a week in April right on the beach for about $700 or so, depending on what part of the OBX you want to stay at.

Definitely check it out! You won't regret it!

I have heard so much about outer banks! Ill google it 700 is about right for us! any other info? like particulars/must see's/secrets? North carolina is NOT so south that I run the risk of DH saying lets go see everyone in FL so I may just do it! thanks

I am planning a spring trip for my mom and my sisters and I. We wanted to go south, but decided to stay closer not to have airfare costs. I ran across a great 4 star resort in Maryland that may be a lot of fun for a family.

There are all kinds of great deals going on right on the Hyatt website (stay at least 3 nights and get one free and get breakfast plus a room upgrade is the deal we went for).

It would be more than the $700 for the week, but a lot closer drive (outer banks have to be like a 10 hour drive from you?).

Place is called Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort, Spa, and Marina. Try the Hyatt website direct or go to tripadvisor.

Sure! It's on the NCL Jewel, and leaving out of NYC on Halloween (my kids are fine with this - still get the parade at school on Friday). Vacationstogo.com, $50 per cabin OBC, and a bottle of wine. I've used them before. I've been checking the rates for a couple of years, since I don't want to take my kids out of school, and this is Jersey week. They usually have great deals on this site. Hope you find something!

Last Easter Break we took a quick 3 day trip to Washington DC. It was a nice ride (4 hours?) and got a great deal on the hotel (free buffet breakfast every am). 99% of the museums were free. We did pay to get into the Spy Museum (awesome) and the Holocaust Museum (only a few bucks each) - everything else was free! We even got free tix to go into the White House Gardens and the Capital. The only extras were food and a souvie here and there (there are "icecream" truck vans that are set up everywhere selling stuff. Got 5 shirts for $20 and yes they are still in good shape LOL and 2 sweatshirts for $15 (soft and wears well). Oh, one thing we did was buy a 2 day pass on the double decker bus and rode that to out of walking distance places (arlington cemetary and Georgetown for example). At the end of the day we just rode a complete round on the bus and learned alot about the area (they have a tourguide pointing things out) and rested our aching feet LOL. We can't wait to go back again, but will wait till June since we are doing WDW for Easter Break. You can't go wrong for an inexpensive trip.
