About us:
We are dediciated DINKs (double-income-no-kids), DVC members since Feb '07, and Mr Kat is a lifelong Disney freak. He convinced me last September that WDW is great place, and this Sept trip is our 4th trip since that one.
Our preferred trip pace is slow, with lots of sleep, relaxation, good restaurants, and pool time, and we both enjoy liquid beverages of the adult variety now and again.
This is a 12 day trip, with 1 night at SSR (cash, AP rate, studio), 4 nights at BCV in a 1-bedroom, 6 nights at BWV in a 2-bedroom preferred view.
I will post pics later on, if anyone is interested. Most are DVC villa pics and views from the room, as well as a few show pics and some park area shots.
So, here goes Days 1-5 and part of 6:
Day 1 (Sept 15):
Left NC at about 7AM, got into SSR at about 3:15. We booked at studio at an AP rate of $180, but got upgraded to a 2-bed with a view of DTD! Sweet! Room was immaculate and huge, and the resort really impressed us. Very quiet and well-manicured. We didn't get to use the pool or other amenities so no comment there.
We headed over to the MK to ride HM (wait time of 30 min), which was an awesome rehab, and then to Ohana for dinner. We finished up in time to watch the fireworks from the beach at the Poly, then back to the resort and to bed.
Day 2 (Sept 16):
Checked out of SSR and into a 1-bed at BCV at about 9AM. Room was not ready, so we drove over to MK again to ride HM w/ the AP "special" (bypass the line). Ate lunch at CHH, and then our room was ready so we headed back to BCV.
Aside: During our lunch at CHH, Mr Kat was waiting for our food while I got a table. At the next table was a little girl (about 8), and a couple that I assume were her parents. She started her conversation with a brief story about a schoolmate who stole something... from there, the man of the group started this MASSIVE lecture that began, "Well, little so-and-so, there are two kinds of people in this world. Those that work hard and go to college, and those that steal." He went on to describe in detail, for at least 25 minutes, just about every career one could possibly have, roughly in the voice of the old MST shorts or the Land ride. We have taken to calling him "Uncle Windbag" (hoping that it wasn't the poor girl's dad). The girl, whose face I could see clearly from my position at the table, looked bored literally to tears. She tried to change the subject once or twice and Uncle Windbag just found another career to discuss from her comments, so she eventually gave up.
So, we checked into BCV, unpacked our stuff, and went out to get "provisions". Came back to BCV and put everything away, and went to Epcot to walk around a bit before our Coral Reef ADR.
Coral Reef was incredible... I love looking at the fish and turtles and I thought the food was very good. We had the shrimp/beef appetizer (only okay), the Alaskan King Crab Legs (awesome), and the Chocolate Wave (awesome). By the time we were done, Epcot was closed, so back to the room for some relaxing.
Day 3 (Sept 17):
To be honest, my memory is fuzzy. I think we got up rather late, went to a park (not sure which one, MK I think!), and then came back to the resort and ate lunch at the marketplace at BCV. Afternoon was hanging out by the pool for a while. SAB is every bit as incredible as we had anticipated. I love the eight foot section with the lazy river current, and the sand bottom is great.
Dinner that night was Chefs De France. I had the calamari appetizer, scallops, and the crepes. Mr Kat had the salmon tartare, tuna, and profiteroles. I won the entree and dessert contest, as both were out of this world, and Mr Kat won the appy. Calamari was good, but the salmon was better.
MGM was having EMH so we took the boat over there and rode the Tower and the GMR. ToT stuffed w/ French food is only a moderately good idea.
I know what was included in each of the following days, but not the order...
Day 4/5 (Sept 18/19):
Tropical disturbance coming through, so I looked out the window and saw the rain at 9AM, and went back to bed until 10 or so. We got up and lazed around until the rain stopped at noon, and headed over to Coronado Springs to eat at the Pepper Market. Great as always. From there we went to AK and rode EE, and then took the bus back to BCV and hung by the pool a bunch more.
Dinner than night was at Wolfgang Puck. They took the filet off the menu, so we both had the tuna tartare (to DIE for), and the sushi platter for dinner. Dessert was cheesecake, good but not remarkable.
After dinner we went over to the comedy club, which was a fun time, and then hit the clubs for a few min, which were totally dead. It started raining so we headed back to the resort.
Day 4/5 (Sept 18/19):
Epcot day. Rode most everything, and lunch was Sunshine Season. Had the Asian station food, was very good as usual.
Afternoon spent by the pool, of course!
Dinner at Raglan Road. Only okay. I thought R&C was much better.
Day 6:
Check out of BCV and into BWV. Room not ready, of course. We chose to pack up the car, and hang out by the BCV pool until the room was ready and/or our friends arrived. The room was ready around 3PM, and the flight was delayed, so they didn't get to BWV until about 20 min after we had gotten over to the room and started unpacking.
More on Day 6 later...
