Okay guys, help me out! ;) I currently live in Kuwait and am "planning" a September 2006 Disney Intimate. I know I can't book until This September. That's fine. My problem is that we only get to go home 2 times a year. We'll be going back home (Tampa) in the middle of October 05, March 06, and then Sep for the wedding. What is the earliest I can do a site visit?? Can I do one in Oct?? And then the rest in March??

Also...what do you guys think of a Sep wedding there?? I believe that it's not peak season anymore, not too hot, etc. (Yes, I'm from Tampa, I know about the hurricane's, etc...lol).

Sorry I can't offer any assistance but just wanted to say congratulations and happy planning.

It is amazing that this forum can be read all over the world. Happy planning.

Disney will work with you... Let them know when you book the wedding in September that you want to come for site visits/planning session in October, and then maybe you can do a tastng in March. Whatever it is, they will work with you.

Hope this helps
Jamie

CONGRATS!

disney has been very accomodating. i'm sure if you call & schedule a site visit for your october trip they can. we did our site visit before the one year mark and are then doing our tasting session, etc in november 05 for our custom wdw wedding in march 2006. i would definetly in the mean time try to view & get information about the venue sites, your preferences and of course save money for the big day. request a fairytale wedding dvd online at disneywedding.go.com and view the information & pictures that they have on their official site. also check out yourfairytale.com under wedding basics, which gives tons of information and of course the disboards.com. these sites have been so much help during the planning process.

september is considered value season so you will save a bundle on your hotel/room costs, weather is still hot 80's and there are little crowds because school has started (with the exception of labor day).

congratulations johnsprincess and best of luck with your plans!

Hey thanks guys!! Yeah, I'm actually from Tampa but John and I accepted government contractor jobs over here. Makes planning hard, but it's a good job. I have the book they send AND the DVD (though I haven't had a chance to watch it yet). I also downloaded the e-book that they sell on yourfairytale. Well, I just did that today so I haven't read through it. I will definitely take your advice and see if they'll do a site visit with me in Oct, etc.

If you are having an intimate wedding, you won't need to do a planning session like custom weddings do. A site visit will still be useful to you, to pick locations, but for intimate weddings, as everything is part of a package, a planning session won't really be necessary. Also, don't worry about doing the planning from afar. Disney does thousands of weddings every year, and many of them are planned completely over email and phone conversations.

Congratulatons, and have fun planning!

We did a visit before we decided to have a WDW wedding, that is what sold DH on it. After that one visit, they next time we were there was for the wedding itself, and we arrived 2 days before. We used one day to get our license (and then had fun with our guests) and then had a day at MK, rehersal and dinner with Pleasure Island at night. I did everything by telephone (it was before email was widely available!!) and by sending pictures. Everything turned out lovely and our phone meetings were about an hour long for 6 or 7 calls.

I'm doing a September date:) Not peak time which means cheaper for everyone...it will probably rain mid-afternoon, but we'll be inside by then:)

Happy planning to you and be safe if Kuwait!

We got married this past September 18, and it was a GREAT month to get married. We had beautiful weather, not too hot, but still a bit humid. It only rained a short shower two of the 11 days we were there and our wedding day was not one of them. Yeah! The parks were crowded though, I have to tell you. We were kind of surprised by that. But all in all it was a great time to be down there. We heard all the comments about the hurricanes and our week down there was actually the only week they didn't get hit by a hurricane! Boy was somebody watching out for us! We actually had to leave 2 days early because of Jean.

Thanks guys! For everything. My wonderful boy told me today that we can have the Custom instead... :cool1: I'm freaking out a little because we are Supposed to be here in Kuwait to pay for land, a house, a baby, etc. Lol. But the other part of me is Really happy about this. So...I will need the planning sessions! Lol. Are they hard to book?? I know I can't "book" the wedding until a year out, but should I book my Oct site visit now?? Should I book anything for us to do in Oct since the next time we'll be back is March? Or will I be able to do the rest then??
