How often do you visit family who do not live close by?

My brother and his family are stationed in Norfolk,Va. We are in MI. We usually see each other 2-4 times per year. We go there once, they come here once and then once or twice we will meet in the middle for a weekend get together. We are pretty close.

Rarely if ever. My father moved to the East Coast several years ago so I've never gone out there to visit. He comes here every blue moon. The rest of my family lives outside of TO so I see them maybe once every one or two years. Not very often at all.

We used to try to get to one set of parents or the other every 6-8 weeks. It's harder now because of the kids' activities. It's about a 4 hour drive to either parent. My parents are 87 and 83 so my sisters try to bring them here for visits or I'll go get them. My in-laws are only in their early 60's and are quite busy with their lives. They come for the kids' birthdays.

My whole family lives in Wisconsin. In my entire life I have never lived father then a 30 minute drive from all of them, until I moved to Puerto Rico 3 years ago. I fly home 3 or 4 times a year and spend at least 2 weeks each trip. I have really enjoyed living here but both me and my DH are really looking forward to moving back to the states in the near future.

My in-laws live in FL. They've never been up here to visit since we moved in 99. Oct will be the 1st time since 01 I've seen them. DH visited 2yrs ago.

My parents live in Houston, and we're in SW Oklahoma. Before DD was in school we'd visit (the kids & I anyway) every 6 weeks for about a week at a time. Once DD started school we started going every time she's out of school for more than a long weekend. During the summer we visit as soon as school lets out and then again for the 4th of July week. :)

One sister lives about 30 minutes away--I see her & her family about once a week!

My 2 brothers live in the Richmond, Va area. My older brother comes to NY for Christmas, my younger brother comes for family events. But I see them a few times a year, because my 2 sisters live in Northern VA, and we go there for birthdays & we switch holidays (this year, Easter & Christmas in Northern VA, Thanksgiving in NY). My sisters come to NY every other month, but it's easier for them--one sister isn't married, the other has 3 kids all under the age of 10, so they don't have tons of activities.

We do make an effort to see each other thru the year--in fact, we're going to VA at the end of the month for my niece's birthday, they were here in June & August for other family birthdays.

Well there is only my dads sister and my other aunt, who is really my moms best friend. We used to go about twice a year from NY to NJ but we havent been there since last christmas. We havent even checked on the 2 rental houses there either. My aunt doesnt exactly throw out the welcome mat so if we can combine a quick hello with the rental house business that is good enough for me. Its too long of a drive to generally stay for the day so add in gas, tolls, food and a night in a hotel and it adds up. I also try to throw a trip in to the cemetary to see the parents and sisters grave too. Dh cousin lives next door to the rental houses but generally we dont speak to him unless its about the property. I guess they all have decided to have their own lives and that is ok with us.

My only long-distance family is my sister who lives in Oklahoma. The last time I visited her was in 1999. She visits here once a year for 2 weeks though.

I haven't seen 2 of my 4 brothers in over 3 years. My niece is getting married next year, so I assume I'll see them then. These brothers have not seen my mother since my father's burial in 2002.

1 brother comes down to see my mother once/year, the other brother lives in Fl and sees her a few times a year. I never know when he's coming, so sometimes I see him, sometimes not.

I see my in-laws at least yearly, and sometimes more if they come for Christmas. One set of in-laws spend EVERY Christmas skiing, so we've only spent the holidays with them once.
