Has anyone tried to go from the Long Beach airport to DLR with mobility equipment? I'm going to have to bring my ECV along this time. Sigh. It's a portable travel one (go-go traveler elite plus). What's the best mode of transportation to get there? I wish they had magical express... that I know could get me there. It's only going to be myself. Cheaper is better because. Thanks!

Have you traveled to Long Beach Airport before? They bring the steps up to the side of the plane so you'll need to be able to do stairs. I use a Gogo as well and you could take a taxi or Super Shuttle, the Gogo disassembles nice and easy so it should fit into most any vehicle. I can get it in the trunk of my Malibu!

Thanks for the reply! :flower3:

No, I haven't gone into Long Beach before. Thanks for the tip about the stairs. I can manage those. The ECV is more for longer distances as I tire easily.

I will look into the super shuttle. :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear the go go fits into the trunk of your Malibu. That was my biggest question because I have one too.:banana::banana:

I always travel with my ECV, and have been through Long Beach airport 4-5 times. If for some reason you can't walk down the ramp from the airplane, they do have a transport chair they use to get you out. It isn't my favorite (I'm always afraid they'll drop me!), but it is an option.

The taxi stand is VERY close to bagage claim. If you go to the little stand next to the taxis, you can let them know you need a van. They have standard vans and handicap vans....I've been in both. They don't charge any more for the vans than they do for the cars.

I hope that helps!

Have a great time!

Hi Honu!

We just did the treck from Long Beach to Hojo. It's definitely an outdoor unloading area for the plane, but as a PP mentioned, we noticed they had those lifts out and available. Our stairs when we landed involved 3 levels, but going out, they had steeper stairs, so there was no turning involved. We took Super Shuttle and we super impressed with them (pun intended!) Our flight was delayed, and they still had someone waiting for us when we got to the airport and on the way back, they were right on time. So if they can handle the ECV (and honestly I'd be surprised if they didn't!) I would definitely recommend them.

Thanks a bunch! I may see what the taxi rates are. I called one of the shuttles and they charge $30 per person normally, but because I have an ECV I'd get charged $45. Sigh. A taxi may be the better way to go.

I will definitely need a pre-board for my flight to SLC then. I can do the stairs, it just takes me awhile to do them. I go down OK (most of the time...), I just don't do up well. There's no way they'd want to carry me... :scared1::scared1::scared1:

:yay: Hey there! How's it going?

Yay for coming out here! :cool1:

I'll call super shuttle tomorrow. Thanks!

I'll have to see about the 3 level thing. I may need assistance for that. Pre-board would be good.

Make sure they know it can be disassembled into four parts none over 25 lbs, they might be thinking they need to have a vehicle with a ramp as opposed to just a regular vehicle.

Good point! I tried to tell the guy that, but we had a slight language/accent barrier happening... :rolleyes1 I think though he said they charge more because they can't fit anyone else in?
