Our Cast:
DawnMaree: That would be me, the ultimate planner for our whole group. After this trip I think I still need to perfect my planning.
Rob: My husband. Not as gung-ho about Disney as I am but still was excited to go on this trip.
Evan: 4-year-old son, a.k.a. Papas boy. He is definitely a temperamental child who needs a lot of attention. We had some trying times with him this vacation.
Alec: 2½-year-old son. Daddys boy by day, Mommys boy by night.
Grandma: My mom. Very generous lady, my best friend. She was looking forward to relaxing by the pool (ha).
Papa G: My dad. This would be the official Papa of Evan. He is completely crazy for his grandsons and really would spend the entire time with them if he could.
Grammy: My mother-in-law. First time going to Disney World and really the first vacation of this kind of magnitude for her and Papa W.
Papa W: My father-in-law. He is not a very expressive person, just went along with what everyone else wanted. Grammy had to warn him ahead of time about how expensive Disney really was.
Magic Kingdom, Epcot - Sunday, November 9th
Around 2:30 a.m. Alec woke up crying. I went to pick him up and he was burning up. Luckily I had brought our ear thermometer. His temperature was 102.1. Gave him some Tylenol and he went right back to sleep. I kept checking his temperature hourly and it came down quickly. At 5:30 a.m. I got up to get ready to go. Rob and I decided that if Alec was acting fine and his temperature was down, we would still go to the MK and just keep tabs on his temperature. The plan was to be on the bus by no later than 7:15 a.m. for early entry. Well that didnt happen. Our whole clan made it down to the lobby at 6:30 a.m. for a quick bite at the Ale & Compass, then back to the room to pack up. We brought our Graco Duo-Glider stroller and packed it up, including a small soft-sided cooler. We put some ice and juice boxes in there. Finally got to the bus stop at 7:30 a.m. Oh well, 15 minutes late. However, the bus did not show up until 8:05 a.m. In the meantime, 2 Animal Kingdom buses came by. There were quite a lot of people waiting for the MK bus by the time it came but we hurried to get on 1st. We stopped at the Beach Club and were able to pack in a few more people, leaving a bunch still waiting, and then headed over to the MK. It made me feel glad we were at the YC and were able to get on the bus and not wait for another one!
Evan and Alec were coming down with colds. They had running noses and were a bit off in temperaments. We did the classics: Dumbo, Peter Pan, Teacups, Snow White, IASW, and also Pooh. They liked the Teacups and Pooh the best although loved singing IASW. We decided it was time to take a train ride so we walked over to Frontierland and got in line. At that time Evan informed us he had to go to the bathroom (after numerous times of asking). Papa G ran him downstairs to the restroom to do his business. Oh no...theres a kiddy play area down there and Evan saw it. Guess where we had to go after the train ride? Guess how long it took to drag the kids away????
Lunch was at the Liberty Tree Tavern with PS at 12:10 p.m. We finally got seated at about 12:45 p.m. Alec had fallen asleep in the meantime and Evan was fading fast. By the time we sat down, Evan was out. Grandma and Papa G sat close to each other so Evan could lay on them, and I held Alec while he slept. We all enjoyed the food (dining reviews soon) very much. Alec woke up at the end of the meal and wanted mac-n-cheese which we ordered and he ate maybe 2 bites. This the 1st of many wasted meals. Rob ate the rest so I guess it really didnt go to complete waste.
We were very excited to find out that Evan made the 40" mark. He had measured in 39" without shoes in September at the docs office. Guess those sneakers made the difference. I did notice that at Splash Mountain the Fastpass line measuring bar and the Standby bar were a little different in the heights. Not by much but we noticed how much more Evans head hit the 40" mark in the Standby line. Evan absolutely loved Splash Mountain. It was his favorite ride and did not want to get off. Rob, Evan, and I were able to ride in the front and the Papas were right behind us. Grandma and Grammy decided not to go on, plus somebody had to watch Alec. They were a bit chilly. We did manage to get quite wet but it was fun. The ride photo was priceless just looking at the joy on Evans face. I bought that picture right away. Love it!
We went on Pirate of the Caribbean and then decided to call it a day in the MK. The boys were pretty tired. However, we decided to take the monorail over to Epcot and walk through there back to the YC. At the T&T we asked to ride in the front with the driver and Rob, the boys, and I got right on. It was at that time that Evan said he had to go to the bathroom again. I told him there were nowhere to go and he had to hold it until we got to Epcot. I worried the whole ride there hoping he wouldnt have an accident. He didnt...phew. So, back to the ride. Even in some drizzly weather, the view was awesome and Evan and Alec really enjoyed that. They received their honorary co-pilot license and we were on our way running down the ramp to the bathroom.
Epcot was nice. We rode Spaceship Earth. The Papas went over to get Fastpasses for themselves and Grandma and Grammy. I took Grandma, Grammy, Rob, and the boys over to Ice Station Cool and told them to try the Beverly. Ha ha ha ha. We then went over to Norway to ride Maelstrom. Evan loved the ride. We bypassed the movie at the end and ran to get on again as there was no ride either time. After the 2nd ride we did it all over again. Then decided we had better get back to the room and get some rest. Animal Kingdom early entry tomorrow...
