London stations info needed

Please help!!

We usually drive to Gatwick from Sheffield when we go to Florida but next year we are considering going by train.

We'll have to change from St Pancras to Kings Cross en route. On our London map, they look to be next to each other so it seems pretty straight forward.

We won't be travelling at peak time or anything horrible like that but we may have more than a few bags on the way back.

Will it be as easy as it looks?

If you are thinking of King Cross Thameslink, it is about a 5 - 10 minute walk (with cases, a good 10 mins) from St Pancras.
The alternative would be to change at Bedford or Luton to pick up a Thameslink train. You will only need to cross a platform.
Otherwise take a cab to Victoria and get the Gatwick Express from there.

I'd avoid the transfer from St Pancras to Kings Cross Thameslink. It is a particularly busy part of London unless it is VERY early or VERY late, and although it is only 10ish minutes walk, I don't think I'd try it with suitcases.

The transfer at Bedford or Luton, as harryhornet suggested would be a lot easier.

Not only is it a fair way with cases to KX Thameslink, it is not a particularly nice area. I would avoid it if you can.

I think I'll try the taxi to Victoria instead.

Luton isn't a good option as good an option unfortunately.
