london paddington - st pancras

Hi can anyone help we are travelling from south wales to london paddington to get the eurostar. Can anyone tell me how to get from paddington to st pancras preferably without using the tube. Also the eurostar gets into st pancras just after 9pm on the way back so with young children which would be the safest way to go from st pancras back to padington at that time of night, any opinions would be appreciated thanks

To be honest I would sugest going via tube using the Hammersmith and City line. When you get off the train at Paddington from Cardiff turn around the the entrace to the station is behind you. There is a lift on the left hand side of the station if you don't fancy the stairs.

This Hammersmith and City line is less bussy than having to go through the main Paddington station tube.

I live in South Wales too and have made the trip from Paddington to St Pancras a few times although we normally stay in London the night before. Anyway, if you really don't want to use the tube, a taxi would be the best option. We did it when my daughter was two and still in a pushchair. It was much easier than using the tube. I'd definitely get a taxi back at night. The only problem I found about getting a taxi at St Pancras were the queues for the taxis.

My daughter is now five so we use the tube.

To be honest, I would get a taxi, especially with luggage. It will only cost around a tenner. I will be using a taxi to get across London from Kings Cross to Waterloo during my holiday (just over a week now - can't wait).

I think there is an assumption that taxis will cost a fortune in London, but in reality central London (getting from station to station) isn't that big, so the fares aren't as much as you might fear.

Yes, there's room for 5 plus luggage in the back of the London cabs - space for 3 on the back seat and 2 pull-down seats. I'd definitely get a cab if I was you - it's so much easier. We travelled from Victoria to Kings Cross with luggage last month but only because we had money on our Oyster cards left over from last year. One of the lifts wasn't working which was a right pain so given the choice I'd always go for a cab. I agree with MichelinMan, cab fares are very reasonable in London, much cheaper than at home although I don't say this to my taxi driver brother-in-law!

There are also sometimes people carrier type black cabs in the taxi ranks, you might all fit in one of those? Worth looking out for anyway!
