Hi

I was wondering if anyone was interested in meeting up in May probably the Satuday 27th May, as I work most weekends at the hospital.

I was thinking of lunch at Planet Hollywood or Rainforest Cafe. Rainforest Cafe isnt that good really its an option in case people wanted to see it. After the lunch we could go for a few drinks. There are lots of nice pubs in Leicester Square.

If so any ideas and any volunteers to help organise the event would be great. :thumbsup2

This is my first time organising anything. I was meant to go to Swindon, but it is a little too far and I was scheduled to work that weekend.

Thanks

Michelle

I will try and keep that date free.

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't be able to make it. Don't forget that the end of May is the Whitsun Bank Holiday so a lot of people may be away.

Have fun anyway

Mandy :)

Hi

Thats true anyone has any other dates for suggestions?

I havent arranged anything before, so a little nervous.

Thanks
Michelle

Hi Michelle (and everyone else - sorry for lurking),

sounds like a good idea. We haven't been to a 'Meet' for a couple of years. All being well we will be there.

I might tempted to come (if I can pluck up the courage!).
Let me know when you might want to have it.

Hi Michelle
I'm only about 30 minutes from central London and would be more than happy to help out, and even more happy to make myself available any weekend needed. I like both those restaurants for their fun quality and groovy drinks but think Rainforest Cafe is better with kids so planet Hollywood may win the day.

As far as dates go, you said that you work a lot of weekends in the hospital so perhaps you should pick another date that is good for you and let us know. Will get my :scratchin thinking hat on about other ideas. The trocadero is a bit run down these days and they took the good stuff out a while ago. A ride on the London Eye might be fun with a riverboat ride, or Rock Circus in the pavillion round the corner from rainforest Cafe, but I haven't been in years so no idea what its like now.

Anyway, just offering any help I can give (sorry for my ramblings ;) ) and keep us all posted,

Claire xx

Hi,
Sounds good although I've never been to a meet before and would probably be coming on my own so I might chicken out between now and then....!! I can be available any Saturday and can also help if necessary....

Oh, yes, and if need be, I am happy to help out, if it's on a day that I can make.
:thumbsup2

Hi

Thanks ever so much Tink, Fizz and Lindsey. what I can do is tell my Ward Manager that on those days dont put me on shift and if she does I will swap with someone.

If can help me arrange something i.e venue, afterwards, dates and times that would be fantastic.

Tink, dont worry about feeling nervous to coming for the meet. I am also nervous, especially as I havent been before.

Here are some dates in May

Sat 6, 13, 20 and 27th. If you say which one you can do then perhaps we can start planning on booking Planet Hollywood or any other ideas.

The pub I remember is just next door to the Garrick Theatre opposite Pizza Hut or Weatherspoons next door Odeon.

Thanks,

Michelle
:thumbsup2

Guys - don't be nervous. I felt the same when I attended my first meet which happened to be on my 40th birthday (long story; don't ask) almost 5 years ago. That day we met several DISers which we'd now count amongst our friends. In December, 2004, we took a Disney Cruise with Kev and Tam and we've got two more holidays booked with them this year.

Keep the faith! :thumbsup2

Meeting the Stringers. Hmm ......not sure that's a good example of nice things that happen at DIS meets Deb. :rotfl:

I do agree that I've never been to a meet that I didn't enjoy. It's not like meeting strangers as you already cyber-know everybody and you have one very large thing in common. Disney! Breaks the ice every time.

See? Omnipresent. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Keeping the dates clear at the moment - just shout if you need any planning help.

(More than happy to check out pubs etc for suitability)

Don't be shy everybody, it'll be fine once we're settled in with a few cocktails and comparing our disney stories, having a good gossip about the moderators :lmao:Please don't be afraid to come, it would be so nice to meet you all

Michelle, don't know what everyone thinks about this but in Leicester Square there is a Chiquitos which has a fun mexican menu and of course "tequila". Planet Hollywood would be fine though.
Also, don't know what this says about my life :worried: but I am free for any of those saturdays so whichever you pick will be fine with me.

Would it be a day or night thing??

I can probably make 13th or 20th, but not 6th or 27th.

Am getting quite excited now, will probably come.

Hi

Thanks for all of your replies.

Shall we make it the 13th May. Then its in the middle of the month and it shouldnt effect bank holiday run up?

Chiquitos sounds nice.

So far we have the 13th May. What would you like to do make it a lunch or dinner? Where would you like to go?

I dont mind either. I have a little tendancy to warm to Planet Hollywood. We have a Chiquitos here and we have only been to Planet Hollywood a couple of times and it was ages since we have been to the London one. If people prefer other options I dont mind. I am easy :rotfl:

Lunch would be better for me as I don't fancy travelling at night by myself on the trains.
13th May is fine.
Planet Hollywood is fine: good food, good cocktails, good company :thumbsup2

13th May, and Planet Hollywood for lunch works for me too.
Sounds fab!
