Does anyone know if the Orlando airport or the resort gift shops sell long distance phone cards?

We want to call back home to Canada while we're @ WDW - and if we use the room phone to call back home the costs are sky-high

I agree with SaskDisNut.
The presidents Choice one works great.
There are several others ones you can get in Grocery stores or drug stores.
Just make sure the hotel you are staying allows 800 or 866 (or,whatever toll free number) for free. You should be OK:thumbsup2

Do you have a Bell long distance package on your home phone? I do and have a Bell calling card. I call an 1-800 # and it is billed to my home phone, but since I have 1200 minutes per month North American long distance I pay nothing. I have also used PC calling cards in the past and they work great.

The area with the payphones at most resorts have vending machines that sell phone cards that can be used for LD calls...We use them whenever we go

Just wanted to confirm that we, too, have used a President's Choice long distance card when travelling to WDW, for the last three or four years. We use the card daily and have made calls from our room (including Pop Century) as well as pay phones at the parks. We've never had a problem with it at all and you sure can't beat the rate!:)

The phone cards they sell in the WDW resorts are expensive. We have Shaw phone, and get a long distance calling card from them for 4 cents a minute. It worked well calling home from WL.

I didn't know you can buy calling cards here to use for calls From the US back home. I thought buying calling cards here were only good for calls originating from Canada. Huh!!

Have to strongly support using President`s Choice calling cards. We started using them about four years ago and take them on every trip to the US. Best deal going...can use them from any pay phone or hotel room since it uses a 1-866 number. We have never had a problem.

Sounds like President's Choice is the way to go....thanks for all the replies :thumbsup2

We have used the President's Choice cards as well. We used them only from payphones. Are there charges when using them in the hotel rooms? Years ago we did run up some charges so the last time we didn't take a chance and just used the pay phones.

Just wondering about the use of them from the rooms?

Tks,

as this past November (using card at both AKL & POP) we haven't incurred any room charges for using the PC Long Distance card. That's been the case, in our experience, for the last few years. We've saved a lot of money thanks to this card....

Call me duh but I need to cAll long distance from resort hotel or pay phone to Sarasota Florida and I don't want to incurr charges to my room what kind of phone card do I need? I also am thinking of getting a disposable cell in Florida so that I have something with me and can give a number for them to call me? Thoughts?

The Disney Resorts don't charge for 1 800 numbers. So you can call from any Disney resort without charge using a calling card.

You can give your friends in Sarasota the hotel number and your room # to phone you. Your room phone will also have a message center so they can leave you a message.

Second this suggestion. The Walmart card is pretty good too. It's easier to pick them up before you go:)

Last time we went (this past September) my daughter got one at Wal-Mart in Detroit. I waited and got one at the resort. Hers was much better. Mine seemed to run out after a few minutes of talking. Get it before you hit the resorts.

We used our PC phone card for our trip in January. It was a $20.00 phone card with an extra $5.00 worth of calling on it (They have this offer quite a bit). We made a minimum of 2 calls each day, for 24 days, and brought the card home. Now we are using up the minutes on it for all our long distance calls here at home. If we don't use up all the minutes (which we will) it will expire in 6 months. We love it.
