We will be taking our first trip to Universal this July. I'm assuming the crowds are going to be crazy bad! I read about the Lombard Cinematic Spectacular. Has anyone done this recently? I read some old reports, but nothing recent.

I'm wondering if it's worth it. By that I mean, do we get a good view? Or are so many people in this special viewing area that it's 5 people deep from the lagoon deck railing and we still can't see? Or are there chairs and everyone sits? Also, does it include a dessert buffet still?

One last thing. My son is 10, and I see that the kid's price is for ages 3-9. If he'll be ordering off the kid's menu, do I have to buy him an adult ticket? I can't see paying $45 for chicken nuggets.

I think you should skip the meal at Lombard's...mainly because of the cost. There are plenty of nice places around to eat for a lot less money. Since your son is 10 which is technically an adult in theme park years, you would have to purchase the adult ticket.

There are lots of places to sit or stand and watch the show w/o having to pay to go to Lombard's.

Another thought...my 12 year old found the show wildly boring, and after a long day of riding the rides, she was over it and ready to go 1/3 of the way through. It's a fun ride down memory lane for the adults, but a lot of it is lost on kids. I wouldn't spend a lot of money to pretty much be stuck there watching something your son might fine deadly dull.

There are plenty of good spots around the lagoon to see the cinematic show, the views from Lombards doesn't give you really any better a view.

So unless you really want to eat in Lombards I wouldn't bother. And yep your little guy is 10, so an adult price is what he would be charged.

We did that one year and even though you have a table with a good view many people cram the railing right in front of you anyway. Many places to see the show if you so choose. Cost of dinner is not worth the aggravation of either asking people to move and sounding ungracious or just putting up with the blocked view.

Well I'm glad you asked this question, because I was wondering the exact same thing. I really want to eat at Lombards but reading this sounds like my youngest 10 might be bored.

my same thoughts.

Lombards is not a bad place to eat but the package for the meal and cinema show is high and not necessarily worth it.

Thanks for the great responses! Seeing that I have a 10 year old and 7 year old, it sounds like they'll be bored and it's not worth it. We'll probably still eat at Lombard's at some point, but definitely not do the dining experience with the show. Great advice!!

The cinematic show doesn't last long at all.........they probably wouldn't have enough time to be bored. We see loads of kids watching it every time and seem to enjoy it :thumbsup2

Fireworks are nice.............

So if you were in the parks when it was happening you should try and catch it........it's cute.

We like Lombards for a lunch now and again......good food at reasonable prices, but never wanted to do the dining deal with them :)

We have done it somewhat recently.... I thought it was overpriced... the food was OK and the kids were bored to tears with the show except for the small amount of fireworks.

Here is a link to a video of the show.

They just didn't know many of the movies and didn't think it was very interesting. We would not do it a second time.
