I've laughed like heck at most of the photos/situations posted in this thread.

Do any of you know why the spelling is usually "destroyed", via the caption?

I can't imagine how someone whose first language is not English must feel while/if trying to decipher them!

I think it's because cats don't know how to write in proper grammar/spelling.
