HI -

I had a great idea..... to have a pre-vacation with just hubby and I before the rest of the family comes to join us.. but now I'm not sure what would work best.

We have reservations for the group at AoA on Dec 12. Hubby and I are talking about flying down on Dec 9th. Hubby & I will not be doing any Disney parks...just taking easy, hitting maybe Disney springs & the outlet mall.

So, I'm thinking we need a rental car.

Option 1 - rent the car at MCO , keep it 3 days and take it back Dec 12th & join the rest of our group for ME.

Option 2 - rent the car at MCO & some how get to AoA on the morning of Dec 12th... car gets magically returned?

ok..so not magically, but I would appreciate some advice from those more seasoned with doing this kind of thing.

Are you staying onsite for the extra days? If so you could take ME to resort, and rent a car from Car Care Center on property(near MK) where they will pick you up and drop you back at resort for rental, with usually cheaper rental off airport.

If not, if you rent at airport and return to one of the onsite locations(Car Care Center and Dolphin have Alamo/National and there are some at Disney Springs area hotels), you could use Disney transportation to AOA(not sure about with luggage!) or Uber there. Or if you use Car Care Center as drop off, you can return there and they will drop you at AOA. It may be more to return to another location, you have to price it out and weigh convenience of not driving back to airport and taking ME. I think we've pretty much decided to stay off site for our first 3 days. thanks for the tip on mousesavers.com will definitely check it out.

Rent car
Stay at first resort three nights.
Drive car to Disney resort.
Drop off luggage.
Return car to whatever prearranged location provides the best pricing.
If CCC, they will drop you off anywhere on property.
If Dolphin, you can use WDW bus to get to a park or DS.
If MCO, and you made a DME reservation, take DME to your resort.
