I was thinking of making dinner reservations for either Boma or Jiko at ALK for the day we are spending at AK. I'm guessing we can just get on the bus at AK to go to AKL and have dinner, but then after dinner how do we get back to ASMo? And is this feasible with a 3 year old who may be tired or should we just stay at AK and eat dinner there?

You can't take a bus from AKL back to your hotel...you would need a central hub like AK (which would be the closest one.

Boma and Jiko are both great restaurants. The bus trip from AK to AKL takes about 8 minutes.

After dinner, the AK will probably be closed. I would take bus to DTD and then transfer to ASMo bus.

I have a reservation at Jiko the day we're doing AK but I'm contemplating canceling it. I've stayed at AKL before and felt that their bus service was slow; maybe because it was March and spring break? Taking the bus from AKL to another park to get a bus to go back to the resort sounds time consuming. A cab would be quickest or just eating at AK instead.

I would catch the first bus leaving AKL that is going to a park that is still open or DTD. DTD would be my last choice on a transfer spot, it seems like the bus service to/from DTD is not good.

That's what we did the last time we went- though we lucked out and was able to hop right on a bus to our resort at DTD, no waiting needed.

To the OP- whether it's feasible with a 3 year old who may be tired is something we can't answer. You know your child best and how they are when they are overtired. Some kids conk out in their stroller or are happy to snuggle with mom/dad. Others, not so much. If they're in the not so much category, maybe doing dinner at Tusker House would be a better option for you.

Ever thought of taking a taxi? Since going to DTD or any other park will be a long bus ride, just to get thrown back on a bus for another 20 minute ride. More than likely AK will be closed since they close usually around 7 or 8 at the latest. ASMo is about 5 minutes from AKL and a quick taxi ride shouldnt cost that much. Maybe about 10 bucks.

I never even thought about a taxi ride. I guess I just assumed they didn't go into the WDW complex but I must be wrong. Anyone know a cab company to call? This is a good idea!

Mears is one of the biggest cab companies on property the front desk will assist you in calling a cab after your dinner also.

I agree that a cab is your best bet - AKL and Movies are not too far apart. :thumbsup2 I am pretty sure that you can request a cab with a booster seat as well for your little one.
Otherwise, as PP mentioned, I would probably just get on the first bus that came for a transfer - except maybe MK since it is fairly far away.
