Need some ideas for planning. We plan to visit DL, SFMM, KBF and Legoland during an 8 day trip. The question is do we need a rental car for the entire trip, or just a few days (to get to San Deigo). Looking at the airport transfer costs makes me wonder, then again, looking at the parking costs. I would prefer to pick one hotel and base out of there rather than moving from hotel to hotel. Any suggestions??

with the price of airport transfers, and how many places besides DL that you want to visit I would just go ahead and rent one the entire time. It gives you flexability to come and go as you please, may save money on your food budget, and takes the worry of relying on other forms of transpertation. Also you can try and find a hotel that offers free parking if you are worried about money.

I'm not sure if this is your first trip to either or all of the parks. But if you are staying at DLR, you should (or may already) know that Knott's is about 10 mins away while Magic Mtn. and LegoLand are about 90 mins away, in different directions. So, shuttle to DLR if you can and drive to the rest.

Also, unless you are doing more in San Diego, I'm sure you can do LegoLand in one day and drive back to your hotel.

Hope this helps and have fun.:earsboy:

Thanks for the input, it is our first trip west and we are trying to cover as much ground as possible. The ticket prices are a substantial part of the budget so we forgo staying on property. We spend very little time in the room anyway. I was planning on flying into SNA however I can fly LAX for the same money but get a direct flight home at a better time, after 8 days riding roller coasters I think that is a big plus!!
