Depending on the computer I am using I sometimes have to relog in and sometimes I don't. It has to do with the settings, but I am so brain dead right now, I couldn't tell you exactly what.

And please, NO music. Personally I hate websites that have preset music and find myself scrambling to click it off. If it is annoying enough, I just don't go back.

Take a look at the Tech Support Board and maybe do a search there for logging in problems. There have been several threads recently about it. You will need to clear your cookies and restart your computer from what I have read over there, but check to make sure that is all you need to do. :)

It does do that to me also, but in 7 years on these boards I never thought of it as a problem, but as a security feature. And the time frame isn't anywhere as long as 30 minutes, if I take more than about 5 minutes to write a post, it requires me to log in again before it will post.

Now,I work for a major corporation and a few months ago our IT department decided that inactive computers were a security threat. If there is no activity for 15 minutes, you are automatically logged out. They also eliminated all "generic" log ins. Both created huge headaches, because there are critical computers that go hours without activity, but have to be logged in to act, and they were logging themselves off.
I work at a TV station, and the computer that runs the commercials may only have to run one commercial break during network programing an hour......which it can't do if it is logged off. Oh, and when they bought the computer, they eliminated the job of the person who used to monitor the commerical breaks....so there is NOBODY there to log back in!

AFAIK there is no reason that should be happening here. I have been logged in for about 5 years and never had any problems! I constantly walk away and leave the DIS open, often overnight and it is still there waiting for me when I come back. :)

I was having that problem last week, but it seems to have been resolved because I haven't had to log in all this week.

Last week it seemed like I had to log in every 15 minutes of browsing or walking away from the keyboard. It was very annoying.

This happens to me when I am using IE In Private Browsing. It will log me out after a certain time of inactivity. I figured out if you click the remember me box when logging in, it will be fine until I close that In private IE window. I use safari at home so I stay logged in and thus not an issue.

thanks everyone for your input :goodvibes disers are always helpful. I will try your suggestions and seeif it works, thanks again :goodvibes
