I have already contacted VMK, but I was hoping that someone here may know about this.

For some reason my ds's account was deleted. This is his Disney account, not just VMK. I called the toll-free number and the woman that I talked to told me that his account is re-activated and now linked to mine. I can use the Contact Us at VMK through his player name/birthdate, but he cannot log into VMK.

He is only 6 years old and is devastated thinking that he may have lost his character and everything that he has worked so hard for. Has anyone else had this problem? He wasn't banned or warned. He just cannot log in. Do you think that they will work to solve this problem or just blow us off? I know it seems like nothing to go out and make a new character, but when you're six, it's a huge deal.

I'm hoping someone here will tell me that everything will work out. :goodvibes

I would explain exactly what you stated in your message here to Contact Us on the main VMK site. I have had very good luck with my problems, but sometimes I had to say it three times before it was corrected. It may take a day to get a response, just to warn you.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

I sent in my message through the Contact Us button last night, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I feel so awful for him that I don't even feel like playing under my account right now. He hasn't disappeared from my friends' list, so I still have some hope that they can make it all right.

Thanks for the kind words.

I think what probably happened is you did not activate his account.

And Disney just deactivated it. I was afraid that this would happen with alot of the childrens accounts and MULE accounts that people have made using birthdates that would make the mule a child....my advice is to activate any mule or child whos account you want to keep.

I hope you get his account up and working again I know the pain it can cause a child who has put his blood sweat and tears(literally)into a character to have it disappear.

Here is the response that I got (not at all helpful):

If you attempt to register with VMK for the first time and receive the
message that your e-mail address already in use, it means that the email
address is already on record with the Disney registration system. There
is no need to register the email address again; you may login using that
email address.

We are unable to change passwords or email addresses through VMK.
However, you can find FAQs on how to change the details on your Disney
member accounts here:
http://psc.disney.go.com/guestservices/8499.html

Please note: unfortunately there is no way to change your date of birth
in the Disney Member Account. Should you wish to change your birthdate,
or if you have forgotten what you entered, you will need to create a new
Disney Member Account.

Mal--I am sure that I activated his account by going through the e-mail that I received back when he first joined. My dd joined the same day, and her account is still working. Thanks for the warning, though.

This is just so frustrating. I have sent another message to VMK describing in more detail what is going on. I hope that they can fix it. He is so upset thinking that he will no longer be milesdodo and that he won't have his pins, rooms, costumes, or friends. I know that it's a little thing compared to what life can offer, but it is a big thing to him. He'll get through it either way, but I'm still hoping that they can get this working for him again.

Thanks, all, for letting me vent!

I don't think this is what happened since u have no idea what happened, but I remember that my sister created a mule a little while ago and typed in that the parent was me, so i got the notifying e-mail about the my "child" lol. So i scrolled down the e-mail curious of what it had, and i clicked on a link that said "how to de-activate the account" i didn't know it would de-activate it right when i clicked the link because it said "HOW to de-activate." I just thought it would bring me to a site ABOUT de-activating it. Anyway, the entire account was lost and that mule was History!! lol, she was kinda mad, but then again, it was JUST a mule! lol.

It was more of a warning to others but you are welcome.

Did they even read your email sounds like a canned response for a problem that has nothing to do with yours.

Send them another and another and another until they get it working again.

Again I really am sorry this happen to him and if there is anything I can do to ease his pain let me know. I am sure I can give him some items to help stock a new character if it comes to that.

Thanks, Mal, that is so sweet of you! I sent another message through the "Contact Us" button yesterday after the non-answer I received back. I haven't heard anything yet.

I'm still hoping, but I think I'll start getting him used to the idea of starting all over again.

I still haven't heard back from VMK, so I am trying again. Do you think this explains the problem fully enough? (Note: I deleted his user name here, but I included it in my correspondence with VMK.) I've pretty much lost hope that this can be corrected, but I thought I'd give it one last shot. I've already talked to ds about creating a new VMK character. He is thinking about it, but really wants to be milesdodo.

This is what I sent:

I haven't heard back about the problem, so I thought I'd try again.

<User name> is my son's user name. He created the account at the beginning of August and has been playing as milesdodo ever since. The other day, he noticed that he could no longer log in. When he attempts to log in, the registration/log-in redraws itself without the log in information that he typed. My daughter and I also play VMK, and we have no problems logging in.

When we first noticed that he could not log in, I called the toll-free number for parents to use about accounts that are opened by children 13 years of age and under. The woman that I talked to told me that <user name> had been deleted by request. We do not recall making any such request. The woman there was able to re-activate the account and at that time linked it to my account. We can use <user name> at other sites, but it does not work at VMK. I think that somehow the connection between milesdodo (VMK character) and <user name> (user name) was broken. Is there any way to get this working again?

I know that creating a new VMK account/character is an option, but my son is devastated that he has lost milesdodo and everything that he has worked so hard for the last few months. He is only 6, so this is a big deal to him. He bought costumes and the Haunted Mansion pins that are no longer available. He had several rooms furnished that will take him a long time to put back together. milesdodo still appears on my friends' list, and I can still access his one room that I have a teleporter into, so I know that he is still out there in cyberspace. If there is any way that you could allow <user name> to log in as milesdodo again, a 6 year old and his mother would be eternally grateful!

Thank you for your time and consideration.
