Hello....I have been to Universal several times but have never stayed on site. We will be staying at Loews Royal Pacific for 2 nights in March...5 of us in a room. Crowded I know but don't want to pay for 2 rooms.

Since I have never stayed there before I was wondering which location would be best so we don't have miles to walk to get to the boats or the path you walk to the parks? Also...is it faster to walk to the parks or ride the boat?

Just wondering if I should call now and ask for a specific location or wait until we check in...we will be checking in later at night...maybe 9pm.

I wasn't sure what to ask for or when...any help is appreciated.

Thanks! Kelly

Towers 1 & 3 i feel are closest to the walking path and water taxi dock than Tower 2.

If you are at Tower 3 and your room is near the elevator, it is a very short walk to the water taxi and walking path to city walk.

if you are in Tower 1 and near the exits, you are a few steps closer to the walking path to city walk.

either way, it would be not enough time difference between the two choices of getting to the parks.

if you have a room in T3 at the end of one of the long corridors, you'll walk more to leave the building.

you really can't go wrong with any of the towers.

i have only stayed in T 1 & 3, which i do prefer.

i have visited friends in T2 and it was good.
my friends had a great view in their room of the park

if the boat is at the dock, take it.
they come about every 15 minutes or so.
if you miss the boat, take the path.
you will probably be there at city walk as the boat is docking.

using the walking path leads you out in city walk by margarittaville.
you turn left and go into IOA.

getting out at the boat dock in city walk, you walk up stairs to reach city walk and then can go to the parks.

you will get different answers on how long the walk will take compared to the boat.

if you walk at a decent pace, 8 minutes and you will be at city walk.
the boat is faster than walking.

i always use the boat unless i have just missed it.

do you have it listed on your reservation that you will be arriving to check in at 9 pm?
if not, give them a call, direct to the hotel, and have that put on your ressie notes.

Sounds like T 1 and 3 are better locations then as far as either getting to the boat or the walking path.

Thanks so much for the info....it was a lot and I appreciate it.

I told them when making the reservation that we wouldn't be checking in until 9 or 10pm. But...they didn;t say anything about a location.

That is why I am wondering if I should call and request a certain location now...and especially since we will be checking in late.

Again..very helpful...thanks.

i think you should call about 5 days out from your arrival.

i have stayed at this hotel for quite a few years and always arrive early morning.
last year i called the hotel to add a request for on my upcoming ressie.
the reservationist read back to me what was on my file.
when she said, "You will be arriving at the hotel at 11 pm", i said what!!

i arrive between 6:30 am to 7:15 am.........

i was glad i called to have that corrected.
i assume since i have a very common last name, notes of another guest was put on my file accidentally.

last year, there were two guests with the same identical name in the hotel.
i received their messages about their car service twice.
it didn't bother me but i did let the front desk know they needed to contact the other person that had the same name as me.

i laughed about this for days...........
i blame my family for giving me a common name........:rolleyes1

do call and let them know you will have a late arrival.
have them put it on your ressie file.

Wow....what are the chances of being there at the same time as someone else with the same name!

I will call several days out then but may call now just to double check that they know I will be arriving late.

BTW...I am a proud redhead too....hahahah!

well red, that wasn't the only time it has happened to me.

same thing happened, 2 peeps with the same name, when i was at the motherland resort. (different trip though)

it is a wise thing to do to give them a heads up you are arriving late.

your room will be held no matter what time you arrive.
if your plane is late and you are not going to make it to the hotel until 2 in the morning, your room will not be put back into the pool.

and if you give specifics on room location you want, it will not be given away to someone that checks in prior to you.

(you might request park view, near the elevator, higher floor, no connecting doors, etc)

:rotfl2:hahah...Ok red 2, you must have a John Smith name or something for that to happen twice. I will def give them a call and make sure of times and ask for whatever they will give me. Maybe if I am really sweet on the phone they will give me stuff....I can hope.
