Loews Gold Upgrade

We are currently reserved in a deluxe room at HRH for Dec. 21-25. What are our chances of being upgraded to either a suite or club level room? We are Loews Gold members. Also, which type of room is better--a suite or a club level room? Part of me would like the extra space, but Marriot has spoiled us since we always stay concierge when we stay with them.
 
HRH is a very difficult place to get an upgrade. 12/21-25 is a very busy time of year. I would not count on it. I am Platinum and have never been upgraded at HRH. On the other hand, I am always upgraded at RPR and PBH.
 
I have a question about the upgrades. I'm only a Loews First Blue member, got my membership specifically for my upcoming trip. I'm staying at PBH and reserved a deluxe room. Am I eligible for an upgrade yet? If so, do you have to request it up checking in, prior to check in, or to they automatically upgrade you? Its not really very clear in the info I received. Also, booked it using AAA rate - does that make a difference in the membership benefits? Thanks.
 
Pooh Fan, it is extemely rare to get an upgrade to club with Gold Status. You could get a suite upgrade for $35 extra per night, if one is available, but as IMGB40 mentioned, that is a very busy time of year, so pretty unlikely.

Cinderella, typically, Loews Blue will get you an upgrade from standard view to pool/water view, with a qualifying rate (AAA counts, it's pretty much the only discounted rate that does). You may not ask for upgrades before hand with Blue. That is only done if one is available at check-in. Since you already have a Deluxe Room, it is unlikely that you would be upgraded (you could ask though). All Deluxe Rooms have a pool view, with a very small few having a Bay View (I believe).
 

Thanks everyone. I guess I won't hold my breath about the upgrade then. Do you think it is worth it to pay the extra $35 a night to get a suite? I mean when you are already paying over 400 a night, what's another 35. After this trip, we will finally reach Platinum, so hopefully on our next trip we will be able to get a good upgrade.
 
This is our first Universal trip and I have signed up for the blue card. DH is plat with both Hilton and Starwood. (Travels for work) Has anyone ever had the level matched from another company by Loews? If so how would I go about asking for the upgrade to his account? Thanks! :)
