lodging.com concerns

Hi, I was wondering what other peoples experiences were using lodging .com website to purchase your hotel reservations. I have had several problems with them regarding my upcoming summer vacation. They tell me that the hotel has my reservation, but then when I contact the hotel, they state they don't have it and have no such reservation. Is it common for the hotel not to know anything about your room and reservation until a couple days before you arrive?? I will be staying at the Sheraton Vistana resort. I called lodging .com several times, they tell me they solved the problem, but when I call the reort they still have no reservation in their system. This is my first experience purchasing something like this over the Internet. What are your experiences with lodging .com.? Should I be worried??

I'm not sure I can help but here goes.
Last year we booked our vacation through a charter travel company.
We were given confirmation from our local travel agency.
When I called the hotel to confirm our reservations I was told they
didn't have it. Of course I started to panic! The lady at the hotel
told me that when you book through a company like this, that they
don't get the reservation name until about two weeks before your
arrival date. The company has bought a block of rooms and then
sells them off.
So the hotel may have your reservations, they just don't know the
name of the person the charter company has sold it to.
Our reservation was just fine. I called about a week and 1/2 before
we were to be there and they had all our info.
I hope this puts your mind at ease a little.
I would keep trying the hotel.
