We are attending a family reunion the third week of July and figure we can spare at least a day or two to visit the original. (We are WDW veterans several times over). Convenience to the park is key, Expedia came up with some Ramada's and a Radission nearby. Looking for any recommendations from those who are familiar with nearby lodgings. :jester:

We stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn in April and really enjoyed it. It is located right at the crosswalk for the pedistrian entrance to the park.

Our room was verry very clean and spacious. When you walked into the room there was a desk and chair to your left and to the right there was a big window, sofabed and coffee table, seperate from the beds by a half wall. There were two queen beds, night stand, armoire with three large drawers, large frig, microwave and closet. There were two sinks outside of the bathroom, which made it easy to get ready in the morning. There was a space in between the fridge and closet that was perfect to put the stroller at night and not interfere with walking space.

The pool was smallish but fun and we had a complimentary continental breakfast at the restaurant next door, Mom's, it was a basic meal, coffee, juice, bagels, toast, danish, milk, fruit and cold cereal.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful when my little brother lost his lanyard full of pins(never found it we think he lost it at the park)

We have also stayed at the Desert Inn-clean spacious room, same breakfast also has a fridge and microwave

Carousal-Clean but run down looking and horrible breakfast, but this was 5 years ago and it's better now so I hear.

Fairfield Inn-horrible customer service, horrible rooms(broken toliets, door locks windows etc etc) wouldn't stay here again

Castle Inn and Suites-horrible customer service, rooms not clean, light bulbs constantly going out wouldn't stay here again

Desert Palm-so so. Rooms clean and okay but an eh type of motel. They are undergoing big time rennovations right now.

Embassy Suites-not within walking distance but a beautiful hotel and free hot breakfast and a managers reception nightly and large spacious rooms

Hilton Inn and Suites-same as Embassy

I always always hear very good things about the Hojo's! Never heard anything bad about them.

Have also read good reviews on Park Inn International and the Candy Cane

No vacancies or good rates at DLR so late in the game so my old standby isCandy Cane Inn. Niice property, great staff, easy walk and has its own shuttle.

I've just returned from a stay at the Days Inn and Suites at 1111 South Harbour Blvd. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the park (my five year old daughter managed it just fine) but they have their own shuttle too.

This hotel is VERY VERY basic - bar size fridge, microwave and hairdryer are included; room safe is an extra $1.75 per day. Pool is cute (shaped like Mickey) but was quite cold during our visit (but then, the weather had been unseasonably cool too).

I'm a clean freak and have NEVER found a hotel that meets my standards (LOL!) but this one was perfectly acceptable on that front; the rooms were quiet and the beds comfortable. The "free" breakfast wasn't much at all - doughnuts, toast and cereal, juice, coffee and milk. The best thing was the price - I booked ages ago and managed to get a rate of $59.25 per night!!!

If you're on a budget and/or won't be spending much time in your room anyway, this is a good choice.

For convenience I second the vote for the Best Western Park Place Inn. The rooms are a bit more spacious than usual (mini-suites), and the location is absolutely the closest. The breakfast is ok (free!) and the pool is just ok. Rates vary depending on availability/season etc.

The hotel I see mentioned most often which you might not pick up on Expedia etc., is the Candy Cane Inn. We are booked to stay there this summer, so I can't give you first hand review yet! There are many postive reviews around on the net though.

I stayed at the Candy Cane Inn a couple years ago, based on reccommendations from this board. We like it so much, we are staying there again this summer. It's really convenient and surprisingly nice. They offer AAA discounts, so let them know if you have AAA when making your reservation.

Have fun-
Alyson

Thanks all!!!
We gave way to the general consensus and booked with the Candy cane Inn, at $82 a night.
Looking forward to our trip!!
Thanks!!!! Disneyland, here we come - 7/19!!:bounce:
