We spent 7 days at the Lodge Alley Inn in Charleston, SC. It is a Bluegreen resort timeshare property. It is 15 warehouse buildings from 1770's that has been restored. It has pine floors and some interior brick walls. Approx 12 ft ceilings. It is on East Bay Street right in the middle of the historic district. We had a one bedroom with a queen bed. The bedroom was really large with a TV and fireplace. The living area had a fireplace and sofa bed. Full sized kitchen. The bathroom was not really large, however it had a good size closet area in the bathroom and a walkin closet in the bedroom. Our room was on the street side. The street noise was pretty significant on Friday night, but no problems the other nights. There is a large courtyard with a fountain and patio tables. The room was clean and well maintained. The staff were efficient and pleasant. The Inn is within walking distance to most everything. I would definately stay there again. I don't know about the points or direct exchange with the property because I did not have time to attend the presentation in which I was told that they would tell me how I could exchange with DVC. Maybe Dean will read this post and fill us in on the exchange or point rates.

Thanks for posting! I love reading about the exchanges/Conceirge Collection. Charleston is on the list of places I'd like to visit, but I'm not sure I could bring myself to use precious DVC points for it. That might mean I'd have to skip a trip to WDW. Can't imagine that!! ;)

Thank you for the report - I enjoy reading about non-DVC properties where we can use our points. Charleston is one of our favorite cities in the USA. What "touristy" things did you do?

Our first Charleston trip: Middleton Place Plantation, also has a great restaurant. We bought a passport at the visitors center that allowed us about 6 historic sites and houses for one price.(I recommend this, helps to know what to see). Horse carriage rides are a good way to learn the historic district.

This trip: Fort Sumter, Magnolia Gardens (not too impressed, Middleton Place is better). We did a candlelight ghost walk. It is pretty good.

There is also Patriots Point, USS Yorktown, many historic walks and tours. You can buy your own cheap walking tour book and do it yourself.

Good free thing is the huge swings right on the water at Waterfront Park. There is also a park called White Point? on the Battery.

All restaurants seem to be great. I have been to: Poogans Porch, Cafe Cafe, BJ's BroadStreet Cafe, Diana's, 82 Queen, Southend Brewery, T-Bonz, Jestine's Kitchen, Tommy Condons, Andalini's, Boulevard Diner (Mt.Pleasant).

Yes, we definately like to eat!!! Especially, in Charleston. Haven't had a bad meal yet.

Let me know if more info is needed.
