just had about 12" cut off to donate. I was trying to go longer because I think the girls prefer long hair, but I just couldn't take it any more!

this is such a great group, making wigs to give to kids who can't afford them. check out their website at www.locksoflove.com

p.s. --good thing they can pick out the grays.... ;)

My youngest DD has done it, too.
My hair doesn't grow long enough to cut off that much.

I have the today show on and they are doing this live. they had one lady who has not had her hair cut in 42 years!!

Thanks. My dd5 has alopecia areata. She almost got to the point that we were ready to pursue a wig. I probably wouldn't go thru locks of love since I think my insurance helps pay for one but I think it is great for those who can use the help. Right now my dd's hair has grown back in (not the most even but at least it isn't noticeable) and we are both trying to grow our hair long enough to donate.

I am going to do that in May, especially if I go down on the CP. My hair is about 22+ inches, and I'd like to add a little before I cut it off.

I donated 12 inches last year and both of our college age DD's donated. The youngest just donated 15 inches this week. We have not seen her yet with short hair.

When our older daughter did it, she did not tell us. We picked her up at the airport and we walked right past her. We did not recognise her! :rotfl:

We do not get to see our younger daughter until the day before we leave for our Disney trip in May. She won't even send me a picture! :rotfl2:

It is a wonderful program! :thumbsup2

My duahgter who has multiple disabilities herself, asked me if she could have her hair cut and send it to Locks of Love so we did and I was proud to hear her ask to help others in need :sunny:

first time was back in 1996 I donated 29" (my hair was REALLY long) and again after my wedding in 2004 my sister inlaw and I cut our hair off (grew out for the wedding) and I cut off 20" and my sister inlaw cut off 13" now I'm growing my hair out again.

my dd 8 did this almost a year ago this april and gave 12 in,,she has enough hair to give 10 more inches right now,,her hair is so thick she was getting head aches from the weight ,,i almost cried when we did this as she has never had a hair cut only ends trimmed,,,only glad we could help out someone with the hair,,,she was very proud,,,what a way to help someone out, hats off to all who do it,, :woohoo:

My dd 11 got 17 inches cut off last Feb and she was born with alot of medical problems and see alot of kids in the hospital daily, and has beautiful thick red hair and is getting ready to get her hair cut again next week. She plans to so this every year. She makes me so proud.

Wow! it's great to see so many people are donating their hair!!! My family has donated many times, but my favorite was when my youngest DD had her first ever haircut at age 7 on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom. They gave her all the trappings of the "my first haircut," plus she got the joy of donating.
