We have vinyl windows in the 10 year old house we just bought. Unfortunately I'm not crazy about the locking system...they lock by clips at the bottom of the bottom window. Single hung windows. Some of the windows are even missing them, which is scary. I've tried calling a bunch of window stores and locksmiths but nobody has any idea what I can do. I'd love to have the regular locks in the middle, even, but the thinnest ones still are too wide and don't fit right even if they weren't.
Does anybody have locks like these? What kind of locks do you have? Any recommendations or insight is greatly appreciated. It almost seems like the only solution is to replace the windows, especially those without locks, but that seems like an expensive solution.
