Lockouts checkin and out

My DW and I are staying at SSR in January. We will be taking my brother and his wife and daughter. We have reserved a 2 bedroom. This consists of a studio Lockout with a one bedroom unit. They will be leaving about a week before we will. Does anyone know if it is possible for us to move into the studio when they leave. I am sure we will have to checkout of the one bedroom and checkin to the studio, but it would be simpler to move our things from the one bedroom to the studio in the morning when they leave instead of checking out of the one bedroom and then having to move our stuff somewhere and then checking back in later. Has anyone done this before. I'd appreciate your input and experience as I am a new DVC member.

Make sure you request a lock off, and link the reservations. Did you reserve a 2 BR or a studio and a 1 BR? If you did a 1 BR and a stu, call and change it to a 2 BR lock off. Or you might not even be in the same building. With the 2 BR lock off, most likely you will have the same room (studio) and you will need to stop down to the desk to get a new key, because the 1 BR will no doubt have someone in it after you leave. When you check in make sure the CMs know what you plan to do, they will work with you to make it as easy as possible for you.

I have done it but the other way around. I had a studio then switched to a 2BR. This was at the BWV. I told the CM at check in and they worked things out so we didn't have to move but only had to open the door. We did have to check out and get new keys but that wasn't a big deal.

It went very smooth. The morning of the swap, we just went down to the front desk and they checked us out and gave us a new key for the studio. We just went back to the room, moved our stuff and locked up. We did reserve a 1BR with a lock-off studio instead of a 2BR.
