Lockers and Tickets

How does the ticket scan work at free lockers, if your ticket is digital and on your phone? If the phone is in the locker, obviously it can't be scanned.

We had our tickets in our phones but we used our Express Passes that came on our Hard Rock Hotel room key. That worked for us.
