Beware of loose locks at SSR...I shut the door to the balcony and it locked behind me! I didn't slam, it I just shut it in a normal fashion. Lucky for me that someone was still in my room, or I would have been out there for a long time in my pajamas! As it was, I had to knock on the door for some time before my friend woke up. It was pretty funny, but could be serious if you get locked out with no one to help. I had a sun burn in just 1/2 hour.

The lock lever was very loose - don't know if the curtain rubbing against it locked it or the force of me shuting it. Just be careful - it could happen again.

Oh my goodness...that could have spelt trouble!!! I'll try to remember that when I go back "home" in December :)

Sounds like something that would happen to me!:rolleyes1

Note to self: bring a cell phone with me if I go out on balcony. I don't usually have a roomie at WDW!

I did that last november and it was cold. We were on the groung floor and my wife went to the welcome center and got help. I was in very skimpy clothing and freezing. I am glad it was ground floor.

 ... I have never seen a locking knob on the balcony door.... That said, I have never been to SSR. Were you at ground level?

Rules of the SSR:

1.Make sure you are fully clothed before you go out on the balcony.
2. Make sure you have someone in your villa to scream to.
3. Make sure you have ropes incase you are on the 3rd or 4th floor so you can climb down as needed.
4. Bring a cell phone to contact SSR staff....
5 If all else fails scream!!!

This is a cute thread! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh my DH wanted to add have cooler full of beer, so if your going to be locked out you can stay there awhile and be content!:happytv: :happytv: :happytv:

We called housekeeping once to report a mousekeeper who was locked out on a balcony at BCV. She was working on the balcony of one of the studios with the huge balcony, and we just happened to look at it, because we had stayed in one of those the last time we had been there. We noticed that she couldn't get the door opened.

Now I will listen to my dh when we go out on the balcony and he always says don't shut the door all the way because it could lock. I always laugh and say how can the door lock by itself. I guess it can.

I'm glad the OP got in okay.

.....
The reason I find this so comical is because we could not seem to open or close it well!! I can see someone locking themselves out....

That's nothing. It's just the latest anti-smoking device installed.

My husband did that same thing....getting locked out on the balcony. Luckily he had his cell phone. He was the only one there and we were all out at the park. He called me and then I had to call the resort to have them send someone to let him back in the villa.

I was on the 3rd floor. I had my cell phone with me, but I used it to tap on the door because my friend couldn't hear my knock...and I broke it!!!! The good news is...I was fully clothed (in my cotton pajamas)!

You would've had to break the window to wake me up. My DH says that I could sleep through a train driving through our house, blaring the horn the whole way. I think he's exaggerating, but I am hard to wake up.
