Well, we're in. Booked our trip for June 4-9 this afternoon. Six days and five nights at POP, park-hoppers all-around. What's even better is that we landed airfare for only $172 a person (prices had been hovering in the $310-$325 range.)
Committing to this trip marks the culmination of a lifelong dream. I never got to go to WDW as a small child, but went twice in high school as a band student, and fell in love. Returned as a newlywed, but always dreamed of the day I would take my own small kids. Now, that dream is coming true. DD7 and DS4 are almost as excited as their parents!
And to think it almost didn't happen. We'd been planning the trip since last summer, and had a nice lump of money tucked away help pay for the trip. But in December, I landed what I thought was a great opportunity with another company. But taking the job meant moving to a new community, selling the house, finding new schools, etc., etc., etc. When I took the job, we realized Disney was going to have to wait at least another year.
But then, a funny thing happened with my new job. I hated it. It was one of the most horrible weeks of my life. And after a lot of soul-searching, I made the abrupt decision to walk away, and return to my old job. By the grace of God, my old job was still available, and our house hadn't sold yet. And I'm happy to have returned back where I belong. But the cherry on top of it all is that our Disney plans are back on!
So, come June 4, we'll be taking off for Orlando for our dream family vacation. We can't wait.
I had actually weened myself off of this site. I guess it's OK to get addicted again!
