sitting here near to tears. I posted earlier but now even more confused

we came back in July after having a wonderful time at SSR. we had 2 bedroom lock-off which we shared with my parents. the hoist wouldn't fit under the beds so we had to put our DS into the sofabed which was fine as the rollin shower was in the 1 bedroom part and he got privacy getting up (he can't move at all so it takes time to do all the things with him) as my parents were in the studio part and they could make their own breakfast and cup of coffee etc without us having to worry about them not getting access to the kitchen.

but here is my problem phoned Member services to book and they wouldn't allow us to book cash nights + points for an assessable lock-off only. so I said I would call her back after talking it over with my husband. we decided to book using borrowed points so I phoned back only to be told now you can't book any accessable lock-offs I told her we had one this year but didn't make a difference she said I must like last year book a dedicated. Well I never. I have went and booked but sitting here worrying myself sick as I now no longer know how to get round my son using the sofabed but at the same time him getting his privacy with it being a dedicated.

I'm sorry you are in that situation, but if your concern is your parents' breakfast, why not ask housekeeping for an extra coffee pot they could use in their room or (assuming you'll have a car) purchase an inexpensive one at Walmart? Your parents could also keep frsh fruit and "borrow" the toaster from the kitchen.

When are you going? Maybe you should try and see if there is availability at the BWV's (if you are within the 7 month window). All of the 2BR's there are lcok-offs. Good luck.

thanks chuck

unfortunately there is more to it. it takes us about 2 hours minumum to get our son up and my parents are elderly so them going out for a couple of hours on their own isn't an option. She took a stroke last year and it affected her sight so a coffee pot would give me more worry but thanks for the suggestion though. I just went into panic mode as that was one of the reasons we came home from VB early because of the room layout. it was our first time since our sons accident so trying to figure everything out was a bit hard and having landed in a great room at SSR I stupidly thought all I had to do was book a similar room layout.

I emailed the mobility people who are great and he is going to try and help us.

Next July booked right at the 11 month window but they are saying no-one can even request a handicapped assessable lock-off points or cash. went ahead an booked, I just went into panic mode. BWC is def. an option for the future if this is going to be the case. just so disappointed because I had phoned in a high as I think it is part of the excitment booking and came of the phone and felt like crying. SSR was great, VB was awful and when they told me about the rooms I just thought here goes VB again.

It would be more points, but you could book a 1 bedroom and studio separate. Would your parents be OK in a separate studio? You could request it be near your 1 bedroom but there would be no guarantee.

yeh they would be fine with that Deb but I supidly paniced and booked the 2 bedroom. I should habe left it gave it more thought i.e. what you suggested and phoned back :guilty:

I am sorry to read about all of the grief you have been going through just to book a vacation. I hope the mobility person will help you in a meaningful way.

To add to the situation - have you considered OKW instead of SSR? The rooms there are larger and might be easier for you to work with. Also the beds are different and your lift might fit under them. I guess you could ask some of specialists about that. Then at the 7 month window you could try for a HA 2 bedroom unit there. The extra room and large balcony might make it even more enjoyable for your particular group. If you do that just request they use your borrowed points first and then maybe you can bank the extra ones. Good luck - it is too bad they have not been as helpful as they could be.

just had a supervisor from member services on the phone. you CAN book a lock-off that is accessable :furious: person yesterday gave me false information. problem now is they have NO availability. :furious: I phoned right at the 11 month window. she did say what about OKW or BWV but I said to her if I can't get an accessable villa at my home resort at the 11 month window what chance do I have at another resort at 7 months.

she is phoning me back,

will let you all know how I get on.
