Lock-off vs dedicated 2br

Just wondering what the difference was, and why you may prefer one over the other?

A lock-off is a Studio and a 1-Bedroom with a connecting door. The Studio will be the second bedroom and will usually have a queen bed and a sleeper sofa. There will be 2 doors leading out of the villa.

A dedicated 2-bedroom will usually have 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. There will be only 1 door out of the villa.

A dedicated 2-bedroom villa has only one entrance. The second bedroom almost always has 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. (Some dedicated 2B at the BCV have 1 queen bed and 1 queen sleep sofa in the second bedroom)

A lock off 2B is a 1 bedroom villa connected to a studio via an interior door. The second bedroom has 1 queen bed and a double sleep sofa. It also includes the kitchenette, since it can be used as a studio if not rented as a 2B. The interior door is actually two doors that can be locked from either side. The studio side has an entrance to the outside (or the hallway) as does the 1 bedroom side.

Some people with children prefer that they not have a separate entrance and thus book the dedicated rooms. Others prefer the convenience of the separate entrance.

The flip side of this is if you are a party of adults only, the separate entrance to the hallway is a plus. If someone wants to stay out later than others in the party, they can enter through their own doorway when they get back and not disturb others who may be sleeping.

A lock off will also have two climate controls a plus if someone likes a cooler/warmer temp to sleep.

We had a lock-off 1-bedroom and I couldn't hear anything at AKL. I'm not sure if there really is any difference besides having an extra door that leads to nowhere. =))

Not interested in a lock off due to the fact unless you stay at OKW you don't get two beds in the second bedroom.

When I go with grandparents, I like them to have the extra seating area with the love seat. The next trip, it is only DH and the kids. I don't want my teenagers having their own exit.

So the dedicated doesn't have a kitchenette? I don't think i realized that. Does it have a fridge?

There is only 1 fridge in a dedicated 2 bedroom unit, the large refrigerator in the main kitchen. No mini-fridge in the 2nd bedroom. We have never noticed the lack of a 2nd fridge.

I have a 2 bedroom lock off reserved at AK Villa's Jambo House and was wondering if there are 2 kitchenettes. I have stayed in a studio at Jambo House so I am familiar with the layout of that unit but I have never stayed in a 1 or 2 bedroom so I'm just trying to understand the set up and have not been able to find any pics or a layout anywhere??

The one bedroom will have a full kitchen, living area, dining area, washer and dryer stackable, sofa bed in the living area and a master bedroom with king bed, and large bath.

So if I am understanding correctly the layout you just posted is of a 1 bedroom and since we have a 2 bedroom lock off reserved it will be this layout plus the studio layout with a connexting door?
