My DS16 is a drummer and likes to collect drum sticks from all of the Hard Rock Cafes that we visit. Can someone tell me where the HRCs are located on the western ports? Are they within walking distance?? Thanks! :)

I know the one in Grand Cayman is not within walking distance (or at least it wasn't last time we were there). It's south of 7 mile beach on Church Street in George Town. It's on the waterfront but I would highly doubt you could walk it unless you are a marathon walker. A taxi isn't too expensive to go there though. It seems like it cost us $15.00 r/t but it's been a few years so the memory isn't quite as sharp as it use to be ;)

The one in Key West is on Duval street but we've never gone on a cruise so I can't tell you if you could walk there or not. I'm sure others will know better than I.

The HRC in Grand Cayman is practically exactly across from the pier where you get the tender ... most certainly within walking distance. We were there just a few weeks ago on the 7/3 sailing.

The HRC in Key West is on Duval St. It kind of sits back so don't miss it. The Grand Cayman one is right at the base of the pier where you tender in. The one in Cozumel is also right across from where you walk off of the pier--either cross the street, or go upstairs into the little mall area--when you come down the escalator on the other side of the street you will be right by the HRC as well as Carlos and Charlies.
I got guitar shaped pins in all 3 HRCs on our trip. One warning--we got burgers at the HRC in Cayman and it cost way too much for a burger. Just get your souvenirs and get out quickly!;)

The one in Cozumel is probably the hardest one to get to, although it's still not that far. Maybe 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile on the main street the pier dumps you out on. It's the world's smallest Hard Rock! If you're into shopping, you'll enjoy the walk anyway. It was just really, really hot the day we were there.

Enjoy!

We went to all 3 Hard Rock Cafes on the Western last week. The one in Key West was the furthest away but was still within walking distance. We all bought lots of t-shirts. Have fun!

I agree with Robin-just buy your souvenirs and leave. While we enjoyed our lunch at the HRC in Grand Cayman a few weeks ago, it was very high priced!! If you can, hold out until you get back on the boat and eat for free!!

I also agree...with get the souviners and run...the food is very high priced...and so so on taste. I mean it's not bad food...but for the price I would have expected better. The best food we have had at any of the HRC that we have been to the one in Tijauna Mexico...we had nachos...yum. So if you must do food...maybe think of grabbing just an appitizer...and of course a drink...

We have a huge collection of HRC souviner glasses...anywhere from the shot glasses and mugs to the hurcaine glasses.

Thanks for all the great info, everyone!! I really appreciate it :)

We'll probably just go to the HRCs and buy some souvenirs....then run!! :moped:

We found the one at Cozumel to be the longest walk, but picked up pins from each. Be forewarned that the Cozumel Hard Rock only had 2 pins to choose from and is quite small. My DH gets t-shirts from each we go to and the one from Cozumel had a cute "worlds smallest Hard Rock" on it.

The one at Grand Cayman was definitely the closest, right at the end of the pier after you got off the tender. Key West is just a short walk up Duval street.

Enjoy the cafes. There is some really unique memorabilia at several of these.

As for the post on Hollywood, FL HRC, it's at a casino. They took down the HRC at Sunrise/Sawgrass Mills and instead put up this one so it's right at Ft. Lauderdale. Not close to the port at all but a cool new HRC!

hard rock cafes..are both definately in walking distance.

In Grand Cayman...when you reach the top of the dock..turn right and it will be just a short walk..on the other side of the road..you can't miss it..not more than a block or two if that.

In Cozumel...when you reach the top of the dock, turn right...you will have to cross the road as all the shopping is on the opposite side. Hard Rock is not to far down.

In Key West..Duval street..definately in walking distance from the dock.

Enjoy...it is fun to see them all in different places.

Thanks you guys for posting....my DS, 12, loves HRC! It's his goal to hit every one. Unfortunately, we won't get to the Key West one...we get 2 days at CC this Thanksgiving.:earseek:

IMHO - The HR in Cozumel was not worth the souvenier. It is a long walk. We took a cab for the trip home. It is small and has the most limited pin selection. Also, the shirts were thinner white t-shirt material and sized differently. We were sorely disappointed. We collect a pin and shirt from each HR we visit. The Cozumel HR is the worst.

You will of course make up your own mind, and you should do it so that you have your pins and shirts, but just be prepared for a bit of a let down.

P.S. When you are on the ship, looking at the mall with C n' C's at the end of the dock, turn your head towards 9:30 - 10:00 around the curve of the bay and you can see the HR from the ship. It is near the end of the "strip" that is the main drag of Cozumel.

P.S.P.S. Timon, great pics!!! The Honolulu one is kind of hard to get to, and the Maui one is one of our FAVORITES. We love Miami also. They serve a GREAT Cuban sandwich!!

Timon, I've seen your site before, I love it! :) Thanks for the link again :)

Thanks for all of the info, everyone. We don't collect pins, my DS16 is collecting drum sticks from each of the HRCs that we visit, and sometimes I'll buy a t-shirt or two. Does anyone know if all of the HRCs at the western ports carry drum sticks? The sticks that DS has so far all have the logo and name of that specific HRC on them.

Ahh drumsticks. I bet someone will know this answer. Maybe start a thread asking specifically if someone has bought some that say Coz.

Don't know if it matters to you, but when we were there, the "theme/image" for the Cozumel HR is a well-endowed woman in a full dive outfit. My Navy brother appreciated the image of his T-shirt, but I never wear mine out. Just an FYI.

And the walk to the Key West HR is a nice walk, 10 - 15 minutes through town. Do not miss the Parrot-head themed items here. Or the pirate themed items at Grand Cayman!

I was just looking around on the HRC web site and I see the drum sticks on their "Clearance" page. :( When you order the sticks, it says they'll pick the city for you, so I can't even try and order specific city sticks. I'm going to try and call the 800# tomorrow, to see if there's any way I can request the western caribbean port's sticks. Since they have them on clearance, I doubt they're carrying them in the cafe's.

Ok, another "update". LOL I called the Key West HRC directly just now and they said they DO still carry them! :) I'm hopeful that the other HRCs will carry them too :teeth:
