Location of handle-flushing toilets?

Not the automatic ones, but the ones with handles.

My DD is very afraid of the automatic ones. We've covered the eye with sticky notes, toilet paper, everything, but she is still scared. We went a whole day at Magic Kingdom at WDW without using a potty because she was so scared! Not pretty!

So, does anyone know where some regular toilets in DL or DCA are? I need to mark them on my map!

I feel your pain! My dd, now age 6, has a very irrational fear of automatic toilets. When we first started going to DLR they did still have a few manual flush left in the parks, but as far as I know they have converted all of them to automatic. The one restroom that I believe may still have manual flush potties is the one inside the Tiki Room waiting area. You have to go up the stairs like you are entering the show room, and on your left are bathrooms.

I haven't been in those specifically the last couple times I have been there, so they may have converted them. But those were the last ones I knew of.

Luckily, my dd has almost outgrown this fear. I still have to go into the stall with her and hold my hand over the sensor until she says I can let it flush, but she doesn't scream and run away crying anymore.

Good luck to you in DLR -- hopefully you can figure out a way to get her to use the potties.

Oooh! I just thought of two more places to try. How old is your dd? The Baby Center has 2 low potties for those kids who are potty training. I'm almost positive those are not auto flush. And they have a restroom in First Aid that is also manual flush. My dd used it the last time we went in February and she specifically remembers it being manual.

Okay dont quote me but I think the bathrooms behind the bank are handled. And I again am not positive but the bathroom through the little tunnel past Rancho del Zocolo past those bathrooms in the back courtyard area where the"secret bathroom" is , I think may also be handled flushers.
Sorry your little one is freaked out about that. That has to be hard.

Yes, the bathroom in front to the right behind bank is one. I do remember thinking wow this must be a old non remodeled bathroom as I had to use a foot.

My DD-8 still has the automatic flusher phobia. Last time we went, she too would have refused to go the entire day. Luckily we took afternoon breaks so she was able to go during that time.

We searched last year for some self flushers and asked at the baby center but they told us she was too old and refused to allow her in. I was a little irritated that they would turn us away, as I had explained the circumstances.
I don't know if I just caught the lady on a bad day or if everyone who works there would deny a child in the same situation access and be so strict and stick to "the rules". I would personally have a hard time turning a little girl away who might be ready to pee in her pants at any moment!

Oh, she did give us some sticky post it notes to tape on the sensor but DD still hated going because she didn't trust it. There is only so much you can do to make them go! I can just imagine what the other people in the bathroom thought when they overheard me trying to make her go! Glad to know I am not alone!

My dd(11) just used the bathrooms behind the bank on Main St. in June, and swears they are automatic. Also, the Rancho bathrooms are also definitely auto flush.

The happiest potties on earth link is very dated, and I have found it inaccurate as far as auto flush/manual flush potties are concerned. I wish Adrienne would update it, as it is very useful information.

They did just finish refurbing the Tour kiosk area and opened it this week, and there are some little bathrooms behind it which used to be manual flush. I'm interested in hearing if they updated the potties to auto flush as part of the refurb.

that you have to be under 42 inches to use the toddler potties in the Baby Care center. They let me DD in (she's just over 42 inches) but begrudgingly and only after I pleaded her fear of automatic toilets case.

The potties behind the bank ARE handled toilets. They did change them to automatic ones recently, but they didn't work right according to the Baby Care Center CM. so they changed them back. Obviously they are not centrally located in the park, but they exist and my DD used them successfully today!

The CM also said that the Tiki room ones should be handled as well. I didn't get to check that one.

My DD 3.5 and I have a saying... "potty we arent done yet!"
And we just laugh and keep on going.. She tries to say that the pottie scares her but we just go in and giggle and "'Tell the pottie off'.

I just put my hand over the sensor and let her know that it will eventually flush, lets see how quick we can be.

So We turned it into a game.

She doesn't like the baby care station as they dont have doors that give privacy..

Also as for the baby care stations. They wouldn't let my DS6 in with me to change DD3 when she was younger.. I said I am changing my baby. he cant stand outside alone..

So they are strict for a reason...

Check the Pinnochio bathrooms in fantasyland. It's been a long time, but we spent a lot of time hauling our kid over there when he was afraid of the autoflushes.

There needs to be an automatic flusher cover invented for the very young pottiers.

Something thick. Something that acts as a hood. Something Reusable. For Parents to use to cover and stop the flusher?? A diaper that is taped just right dedicated to that purpose??

May be the perfect invention can be passed from Family to Family like the refrigerator swaps??

I hear ya. My dd simply wouldn't use an automatic flusher, and there is no way to turn it into a game. She is autistic and has sensory integration issues. She is now old enough (8) that we can sometimes get away with holding a hand over the sensor, but she is rigid with fear the whole time. We've had our share of accidents when the toilet in the next stall flushed mid-pee and she thought it was hers.

Edited to add: for those whose children have this fear, you might be cautious about the fireworks. For some reason, I didn't even think about it and last year my dd practically crawled inside my shirt trying to get away from the booming noises. We had to go on some inside rides to get away. Had I been smarter, I would have realized fireworks were not a good thing for a girl with sensory difficulties! It's so hard to predict what is going to be scary to her and what doesn't bother her at all.

Some kids (not all, but some) with sensory issues are able to enjoy fireworks through earplugs. It's worth a try.

Nope. They're automatic. The ONLY ones in DL are by the Bank.

I learned today that there may be some in DCA in the family restrooms in Bug's Land area. They were both locked for a long time when I tried today. My DD couldn't wait so we headed back to the hotel.

Yep. My DD is on the spectrum too with many sensory issues. For typical children, using a post-it or playing a game will often work. It will work with some Autistic Spectrum disorder kids too, but for some, there is nothing that will work.

Twice today my daughter ran out of the bathroom in serious mortal fear that I was going to make her simply step into the stall, and this was after "holding it" for at least 6 hours. The fear of the flush is just too strong.

BTW, both my DD's on are the spectrum. My oldest has learned to deal with the automatic flushers, but she cannot handle fireworks at all, even with earplugs.
