OK - now to start planning for a Chicagoland meet up. This posting contains a poll with what seems the most popular locations mentioned in the rollcall posts.

So, if you're in Chicagoland (Chicagolanders only please) select your choice and suggest a month for a local meet-up.

Maybe around the holidays (november or December). Any time would be fun though. :sunny:

OakBrook would work for me. Late Sept./early Oct?

Wonder if DVC will be having the same get together they had last year during Chicago's Festival of Lights?

Woodfield works best for me, but Oakbrook would work too.

I'm up for any time other than the end of October (we'll be on the DVC Member Cruise then). :)

Either place would work for us. The Gino's East in Rosemont has been used several times for Chicagoland DIS meets and is pretty convenient. Another possibility which is also close by but easier to deal with than Oak Brook is the Yorktown Mall. Any of these would be OK with us.

We are closer to OakBrook but we could make it to Woodfield also. How about October?

We're pretty far SW, so Oak Brook would be much better for us. Yorktown Mall would be good, too.

October sounds good.

I am flexible. I live near Woodfield but Oakbrook or Yorktown are easy to get to.

Woodfield Mall is much closer for us. We're in the NW suburbs, so I don't know that we would drive down to Oakbrook.

This poll will be open until next week.

I was glad to see some suggest Old Orchard. Real accessible for me, though I can get to either of the other two malls too!

Regardless of location, I would prefer meeting before the holiday shopping season. Makes things unbearably difficult. Just a thought.

We live very close to Oakbrook, but would travel to most places in the Chicagoland area. As someone asked before, is Disney going to be involved in the Chicago's Festival of Lights and sponsor a DVC event again? We would need to have the "meetup" on the weekend.

Old Orchard in Skokie would be good. And Northbrook Court is an easy hop from either the Edens or 294.

I would strongly advise against Old Orchard or Northbrook Court. Those malls are extremely difficult to get to from the West, South, and Northwest suburbs.

This poll will close this coming Friday, 8/25.

I'm thnking of possibly the first weekend in November for a meet-up? Or, does anyone know if DVC will have their Chicago event again?

Yes, which is exactly why people who live in the North suburbs don't want to go to Oakbrook etc.

I agree. That would be way too far for us.

This comment does not hold water. The other malls that have been listed are just off Interstate exits off of Interstates that are easily accessible from all directions. Getting to Old Orchard or Northbrook Court from the south, west, or northwest involves access issues that are not present for the other malls. Just to show you it isn't a geography thing, if the suggestion of Gurnee Mills was made the same criticism would not apply as it does to Old Orchard or Northbrook Court. It is in close proximity to an accessible Interstate exit.

I agree with the Old Orchard and Northbrook Court comments Doctor P made about access issues for both.
For those of us in the NW suburbs, saying there's easy access off the Edens or 294 for Northbrook Court doesn't help when we would need to take the "over land" surface streets route b/c we're not near either of those expressways.

I know that Oakbrook does have good proximity to an Interstate exit, just as Woodfield and Gurnee Mills do, but it's pretty far for those of us in the N and NW suburbs to go.

Geographically, I think Woodfield is more centrally located than Oakbrook. But if the DISers in that area outnumber the others and want to have the meet closest to them, that's fine too.
