Okay ladies (and gentlemen)...I have an issue. If we go with what we have now there will be a big break between our reception and our dessert party.

My DF and I received our call today from our Wedding Consultant. We are planning on having our wedding on the weekend of January 18-21, 2008. Ideally we wanted to have our wedding on January 19th (Saturday), but were willing to have it on the 20th (Sunday). I thought we had plenty of time to get going, because this was the slow time at Disney...I was wrong. I am so glad that DF pushed me to get this going, because we would have been out of luck.

The only available WP times were at 10am on Saturday or 10 or noon on Sunday. Our first choice for reception site was Living Seas - it was not available at all on Saturday and only available until 4 pm on Sunday. Heidi, our consultant, said that Ariel's is blocked off because they are trying to not use it anymore, but she would look into it for us. So, our choices are...

Saturday: 10 am ceremony WP, Ariel's reception 11-4 (or anytime I assume). Dessert party to follow later that night.

Sunday: 10 am WP ceremony, Living Seas reception 11-4, Dessert party in France from 8-9:30pm.

OR

we do something totally different than what we both really wanted...maybe the YC Gazebo with a reception at Ariel's or somewhere else later...we could get the Gazebo at 2:30 pm, but couldn't contract it until 8 months out. Kind of scary...

So, my question is...how would you, as a guest (and maybe as a bride) feel about having the wedding/reception, having a break of 4 hours, and then the dessert party?

I would have no problem if my guests wanted to dress casual for the dessert party on French Upper...Actually, I think it would be a good thing, because it means they will be warm.

I am really struggling about this one and I can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts!

Thanks,
Tara

I think that 4 hours is a good amount of time to have between the reception and the dessert party. Only because we had 2 hours between ours, and to be honest with you, it was far from enough. It sounded like alot of time when we were planning it, but really it flew by. Hubby and I used that time to check into our honeymoon sweet at the GF, and our guests used that time to change. But because the busses took some time to unload everyone after the reception, and then picked everyone up someone early, we ALL felt super rushed.

Part of the good thing about the time between is there will be a few children at the event. My DF has a 4-year old daughter and my MOH will have (she expecting right now) three kids under 4 at the time of the wedding. This would give everyone some time to rest.

I guess I have another question...do you think people will dance at an early afternoon wedding?
