When booking your own excursions it is noted to be careful about the time because they are using their own local time. Can I assume that if the Disney boat says it arrives at 8:00 am that they are stating 8:00 am local time for that island?

Yes, that's correct, all excursions are on local time, but depend on your own watch for that time. There are times on some excursions that the tour does break up, with a 'meet back up at x:xx'.

Also, you will get notifications in room as to any time changes during your cruise.

Lloyd Dobler's response is correct, so I don't have anything to add to that. Just wanted to mention to Lloyd... welcome to the DIS Boards. I loved the movie that your Screen Name makes reference to.

And if anyone else is interested, the coordinates he lists as his location are those of Castaway Cay!

On DCL, the ship's time will change so that it is always in sync with the local time at all port calls. This is not always the case on some cruise lines.[/url]

I can attest to that! When we cruised on Carnival to Cozumel many years ago with a group of friends, we arranged our own scuba excursion with a local outfit. Unfortunately, we never considered the time difference between the ship and the island. So, we ended up waiting for over an hour sitting under a hot sun at the port before they showed up...

When exactly does the time change on the Eastern cruise between St. Thomas and Castaway Cay? I am only asking because on New Years Eve this year the Magic leaves St. Thomas..could there possibly be 2 new years midnights because of the time change?? ;)
