A local news channel is doing a report on the 11:00 news regarding eating risks at the MK (that was the headline). The ad enticing people to watch the newscast has a family saying they left WDW after what they "saw". The mother interviewed had a British accent.

I will try to catch the 11:00 news and see what this is all about. Perhaps other Bostonians have seen this also.

This sounds like the same set of reports that were aired earlier this week in NY and Philadelphia.

I read the on-line reports but it would be interesting to see them on TV.

My guess is this is on Channel 4. Am I right?

Right, Margie! I found the report on channel 4 website. The internet reprt cites CRT, Coral Reef, Brown Derby and Cape May.

The ad certainly is sensationalizing the issue, IMHO. I have been to Disney many, many times and have never had food poisoning. DH and I celebrated our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago at an upscale, nationally recognized Boston restaurant - 5 stars, I believe. I got food poisoning!! It can happen.

Mouseteacher...........on almost every long trip to the world (7 days or more), someone in our family of 5 gets sick. (not on the shorter ones though) Most of these are just random things, imho..........ear infections, flu-like viruses. These are probably ailments they would've come down with at home or something they caught on the plane.

However, my oldest son did get pretty sick after eating Fettucini Alfredo in Italy at Epcot. I attributed it to the cappucino he bought on the way out. (from France) He definitely blames it on the meal. I think it was too much of a good thing and his stomach just couldn't handle the combination.

I just hope I haven't jinxed us for our upcoming trip!

p.s. Oh, yeah...........I forgot he kept dipping his bread in the oil that is served at the restaurant. I think he was just on rich food overload.

marymrg~ food poisoning can happen at the best of restaurants. I agree, eating foods/rich foods that we don't normally eat at home can certainly affect us. It seems the article focuses on Board of Health violations. I am going to try and watch the news report to see what their major point is.

"Of the millions and millions of guests who visit us every year, eight of those guests filed a health complaint and we think that is outstanding," Polak adds.

Seriously 8 guests last year????? I think that the majority of national chains get more complaints than that.

Food posioning can happen for many reasons and from many different origins..... your reactions to it can be vastly different as well.

It's always something...

I just got back from the World and I definitely caught a little something on the first couple of days. i ate at the Cape May Clambake the first night and the Crystal Palace for lunch the 2nd day, and I definitely got a bug or slight case of food poisoning. no one else in my family got it.

Interesting. Eight reports a year...I guess that means that every person that got food poisoning last year immediately registered on the DIS and posted "I got sick at Blah Blah Blah"!!! I can recall three of those in the past year!

I agree about the rich foods on vacation probably contributing to gastric woes. I know my family wants to have their favorites day in and day out, and that could upset the average tummy.

Suzanne
she of cast iron stomach!

We visit 2-3 times a year and have since day 1.

I had food poisoning once...from eating at The Wilderness Lodge. It happens and I think that really isn't a bad track record.

I cannot bring myself to eat at The Whispering Canyon though anymore....just associate it with that time I guess

Hi

My family ate the Coral Reef last year and both myself and my son were sick after that--food posioning!

This happen to anyone else who at the Coral Reef?

:earsgirl:

My son got sick after eating at the Sci fi. Can't for the life get him to go back and give it a second chance. He missed Thanksgiving day becasue of his food poisoning. It happens!!

Just being in a different environment can cause your tummy to act up.

DH used to get sick every time we went to the world. We finally realized it was due to the water. Now he brews his coffee with bottled water and he is fine.
