So since I am a local and deal with the heat and humidity everyday... I started experimenting with a few things to make wearing the mask easier, and dealing with the what I see as side effects from wearing the mask...
Since we are going for a long weekend to see Mickey and the gang, I wanted to figure out what I absolutely need, with-out bring the kitchen sink with me, and how to scale it back.... so I can get in all in my cross-body...

Mask on, and extra mask in the bag for DH and I... I was thinking, a extra 2 or 3 for each of us...

Mask Mouth, aka: bad breath, dry mouth... I have pretty bad allergies, and asthma and I take medication for them which drys me out... I have been trying things to help with problems ... something that help soothe's your dry throat, keep my sinus clear and keep at bay that cotton mouth feeling...
First place is Cough drops with the liquid center works really great
Second place mints... wintergreen, spearmint and peppermint...
Third place hard candy, peppermint, butterscotch, lifesavers....
I tried the Listerine tabs or and the store brand tabs, and they worked pretty good, they don't last as long, as the cough drops for me... They take up no space so going to tuck in some into the bags...Nice to have lots of options.

Chewing gum for me was a no go... it makes the mask rub on your face and behind your ears with the loops, and for me was irritating to my skin...

Protections for your lips... carmex, chap stick, burts bees for lips... for me worked all about the same...

Eye drops, I have found the longer I were a mask, I have more dry eye or allergy eye problems I seem to be having... so bring drops with me... Getting drops for DH for contact wearer's.

Sunscreen... face lotion, I have tried a few different ones, and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, Dry Touch Broad Spectrum SPF 100+ for me works the best... I put it on at least 45 minutes before I put on my makeup or head out of the house, to the pool, shopping or for a day into the sun... I have used it several times when running errands, in and out of the car, and taking the mask off and on... and it seems to stay in place... and the mask doesn't seem to rub it off...

A friend also suggested, Neutrogena face wipes, the Hydro Boost, in the teal package.... to cool and clean your face, plus it adds some hydration to your skin... I use these so I will be testing them out this week... I tested them out and they worked great for me... I like having that extra bit of hydration...and a clean face... If you go this route, you will need to apply more sunscreen they are still a facial cleaning wipe..

I did have a thought, once you wear that mask for a long periods of time, they start to rub behind your ears, and it gets irritated and painful... so I am going to try using just a dab of chap stick to kinda coat loop to keep it from rubbing a sore spot behind your ears... So I tried the chap stick and it worked, it did feel a bit sticky at first, and kinda felt weird... so the next day I tried just a tiny dab of my face lotion on the loop and that worked well, and on the third try, I applied a tiny dab of face lotion behind my ears, and this worked the best for me. I could re-apply this if I had to change mask, or either the chap stick or lotion wore off.. ... So all in all, the 3 opinions worked well for me.

Small wallet, with only a couple of cards, and cash for tipping,

Phone

Eye Glasses( readers)/ case

small zipper bag - with inhalers, and glucose tab's, small pill container...

Spray and gel hand sanitizer

Disinfecting wipes

Hand soap, that I am re-purposing a tiny hand sanitizer container, to make sure that I have hand soap...

Straws

I picked up some mini ziplocs, for extra mask, and disinfecting wipes, and face wipes, straws and cough drops along with mints and candy and some small travel size little pots for some extra face sunscreen... I picked up a package of 2 little pots at Wal-mart for .97 cents..over in the travel size bin's)

We use Coppertone sports spray, SPF 50+ or higher... and we will apply this before we leave the hotel, to give it time to soak in... I found a small spray can of sunscreen to use to re-apply once in the park, and we have used them before and it's enough for us to share... DH will carry in his cargo shorts...

As well I have a chilly mini for our necks, which they come in little containers, which DH can carry in his cargo pockets, but I might stick them in a mini ziploc as well..

I have been drinking Gatorade before I go out and run errands so that I start out hydrated... to see if this helps...
so I might look into the packets that you pour in water, to help keep you hydrated... and bring those along... Looking for some type of hydration packets to add into bottled water while on the go and so far I have only found crystal light, and this is not what I want, it more just a flavoring,.. Anyone any suggestions?

So I will have to update on a few things if they are working for me or not...

Wow! Prepared and I love some of the tips on this list. We're not going until Labor Day week but since the weather then is still hot and humid I plan on bringing:

-Sunscreen (a must, truly) - I also use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost (it's the teal tube), as it's not super greasy. If you're nuts about skincare, Supergoop is +++++++
-Hand sanitizer (always, but especially now!)
-Chub rub stick - shorts are necessary, chaffing is not
-Phone, ID and debit/credit card

And that's it. We're not local and do carry-on only when flying so I don't want to have to bring more than necessary but looking at your list I might have to think a little more on it.

So we're supposed to be there in a few weeks, not local but we typically go 3-4 times a year. I like your chap stick on the loops of the mask idea! I have this mini stick of sunscreen that I purchased at target last year in a pack - "Babyganics Pure Mineral Baby Sunscreen Stick, SPF 50", it's less than an oz. We have some 'soap sheets' that are for camping that we plan to bring. I'm hoping to try out these Collapsible Reusable Foldable Eco-Friendly 8oz water bottles - these are essentially bags of water. When empty they take up less space then a water bottle does.

I haven't seen the soap sheets, I am wondering if they would have something like this at Bass Pro... I am going to have to check it out...
Do the water bottle leak when full?

No bag for me - capris with cargo pockets - cell phone in 1, charger, hand wipe packets and extra masks in the other. I have a little wallet that hangs off my lanyard for credit card, cash, AP, DVC card and license and that’s it. I did buy some of those silicone neck straps that you loop the mask ear straps around / they really do work great!

I wish I could go bag-less... with what I need, such as my inhaler and other med's, readers, and phone... and the all the other stuff...
cargo pockets just would not get it... I'm a girl that has to have her stuff... LOL

I used to carry a Small crossbody - but then they started the bag search - my husband would sail on thru the no bag line and do this little ‘I got thru and you’re stuck in line’ dance and I decided that there wasn’t anything I needed that I couldn’t fit in cargo pockets that was worth the line.

That's my experience as well. I was surprised how much I didn't need to carry, although I've not been during the need for masks and whatnot, so I might need to go back to a small crossbody to handle the extra. I hate to go backwards though - hands free is, well - freeing!

I believe Disney could utilize three types of lines for security checks. 1. No bags. 2. See through bag/backpack and 3. a line for those that need everything but the kitchen sink. (And I do not mean that disparagingly. You need what you need based on ages, medical conditions, food choices, and length of stay at parks etc.) A see through bag/pack is not my original idea but one I have experienced at NFL games. The see through backpack that lays almost flat is very easy to visually scan. Line moves very very quickly and you may have sunglasses, small wallet, a tube of sunscreen, individual wet wipes, cheaters etc. in the pack. In fact, I have used my NFL pack at Disney but still wait in line to abide by the rules. No problem with the rules but a suggestion to get people though lines more quickly as there is no need to unzip and look in all the pockets like a purse or other bag etc. A side note: Many farmers, farm workers, construction workers, postal workers etc work in heat and cold extremes all year around. Some must wear masks due to asthma and dust. They are working long days to help us. I think the Covid mask requirement is necessary and may help us appreciate those that do the same at work each and every day........ and not at the most magical place on earth.

Ponchos/umbrellas, sunscreen, extra masks, chapstick, gum/breath mints, phone chargers. That about covers it. When we go to DL/DCA and expect rain we bring a backpack full of rain suits/change of clothes and leave it in a locker. The cold rain in DL/DCA will absolutely kill a day, and the ponchos don't quite do the trick.

We haven't tested the water bottles out yet. I plan to order them on Amazon and test them before we head to the parks.

Umbrella, ponchos are nice but in the heat of summer, an umbrella is where it's at! Not in my bag but on my body is wicking clothing. I am always amazed at the number of people cruising around Disney in the heat of the summer in jeans/jean shorts. Anyone that has not been before and is considering denim shorts, DO NOT DO IT. If you love the feeling of wearing a wet diaper all day, more power to you, but I just don't see how this could be comfortable. All I can think is they must not be from FL.

Please let us know if the chap stick behind the ears works?

My area is requiring more and more shops/grocery stores to have a mandatory masks and my ears get sore.

Check out the ear saver clips that connect around the back of your neck as opposed to on your ears. That may help you. Some people buy them and some rig up their own.

Love your list you seem so prepared, my family use to have a backpack with everything down to lunch....to
A drawstring bag that has
A clipon sunscreen bottle.
We buy a waterbottle or a coke at the park and refill the bottles all day with free water. They go in the bag

I will be adding a ziplocks because I usually get a few from splash mountain and keep them all week not sure if they will still be there.
We really travel light now days so much easier but I do like having the bag in case i want to carry leftover snacks.

I'm local and never take a bag in any of the parks.

My tip for you: Ditch the readers - there's an app for that! ;-)
