hey everyone,
we just got back from WDW and i need to load my pics. my parents bought us the canon s5, and it was our first time using it!! YIKES! i'm glad we got to play around with it...it seems like a very nice camera. i especially liked the movie function.
anyways, we took lots of videos, and when i'm loading onto my computer, a box keeps popping up that says "please wait while Windows configures PhotoGallery" i keep hitting cancel, but it keeps popping up. it drives me nuts!!

it then says "the source you are trying to use is on a cd rom or other removable disk that is not available. insert the photo gallery disk and press ok."
i don't have a photo gallery disk...do i need to get it from somewhere? why would this keep popping up each time i go to my pictures on the computer? can anyone help me out with this? it did it before i got my s5, but i notice alot more now, maybe cuz we took so many videos?
i need help!!! thanks in advance!

My DW has a Canon A620. IIRC, those require the software to track and download the pictures that are taken with it. I'm sure that you can download the appropriate software for your camera from the Canon site.

I'm not familiar with MS Photo Gallery, but I'm thinking that maybe it was a part of the Office suite? MS Office is notorious for, out of the blue, demanding the install media and refusing to budge until it has it. I'd say to forget that, there's plenty of good free photo software out there and no need to use Microsoft's.

so do you think that i should try to uninstall it? i'm so computer illiterate, that i don't dare to get rid of stuff! i know that there are alot of programs on my computer that i don't use/need, but they sit there anyways! i need to get rid of that darn pop up box about the photogallery though...it drives me CRAZY!!!

a quick search uncovered this

Please Wait While Windows Configures Photogallery

We kept getting this error when we would load pictures on our Windows XP system. We also got the problem when running Camtasia screen recording software.

Everyone told us it was a problem with Microsoft Office but when we researched it we found that it was a problem with HP Image Suite which was installed with our HP driver CD for our Officejet 7310xi.

We went to Control Panel -- Add/Remove programs and deleted this program without deleting our drivers and it removed the problem.

well, i researched it a bit more, and started removing a few programs from my computer. i uninstalled my hp camera, and my hp printer, amongst a few other items, and it seems to have fixed it. i reinstalled the printer, and the scaan function never worked before...but now it does!! so...i fixed 2 things on my puter today! i'm so happy that i asked this question here, cuz it got me researching in the right direction, and i came away ahead of the game! now to organize and edit all those pics that i loaded!
thanks !!!
