LMM Plays Tour Guide - Spring Break at the World

We had a dinner ADR that Rachel had me make at T-Rex Cafe after she heard that Max and I ate there earlier this week. Her chemistry teacher had recommended it to her.

So, we took the boat to the Swan so we could take the DtD bus from there.

They were set up for some event on the beach.

We enjoyed T-Rex Cafe. The nachos were awesome. I got the T-rexadillas, which is what Max had last time, and they were good. The menu variety makes it a good restaurant for a diverse group of people.

After, we went to World of Disney.

The bus back to the Polynesian from DtD was ridiculous. It took half an hour. I fell asleep.

We had an early breakfast at Crystal Palace.

Maybe one day, Dad will learn that you want to get the top of the castle and less pavement...

DSC_2131 by vshingl, on Flickr

But not cut out feet.

DSC_2132 by vshingl, on Flickr

Almost got it...

DSC_2135 by vshingl, on Flickr

Come on, Dad - less pavement!

DSC_2141 by vshingl, on Flickr

Lower your perspective for more castle!!

DSC_2142 by vshingl, on Flickr

Just bend down a little, please!

We had just missed the character rotation, so we had to spend a long time at breakfast waiting around to see everyone. The food was good, as always. Our two favorite things are both on the kids' bar - Pooh's Puffed French Toast and the breakfast pizza. Crystal Palace has a consistently good breakfast.

Tigger was at the end of the pack, and we just caught him. While we were waiting around to see the characters, naturally, we people watched. We spotted a lady walk by with a plate full of grapes. And then she came back by with a plate full of apples. Dang, this lady likes fruit! Dad and I had the seats with a view, and we watched as this lady pulls out the ziplock bags... so we entertained ourselves by doing some serious creeping.

ZIPLOCK BAGS!!!

DSC_2181 by vshingl, on Flickr

DSC_2182 by vshingl, on Flickr

Yeah, stuff those bags...

DSC_2183 by vshingl, on Flickr

No wonder her bag is bulging - it's stuffed full of fruit!

DSC_2184 by vshingl, on Flickr

Yeahhh, you too!

DSC_2185 by vshingl, on Flickr

AND THEN - when they left - they interrupted the set character route and got a picture with Pooh!

DSC_2188 by vshingl, on Flickr

Mickey's fake handler from Chef Mickey's would not have been happy.

But these two ladies pretty much made my morning.

First up Space Mountain!

We stopped and watched the parade. We had good seats.... Rachel and I were really confused why no one was sitting here. Turns out, because it's really hot! We baked in the sun.

DSC_2240 by vshingl, on Flickr

Of course we were later joined by an obnoxious child who felt the need to scream bloody murder every character he recognized until they acknowledged him.

After the parade, we left the park and took the boat back to the resort. There was a child on the boat crying obnoxiously. I got the luxury of sitting right next to them because they were trying to cram as many people as possible onto the boat. The entire time, his mother kept telling him to hush and that he'd cried enough. Then we got to the Grand Floridian, and she's like "Where are we? Does this stop more than once?" And I tell her that we're at the Grand Floridian and the next stop will be the Polynesian. So she gets up and gets off and just sits on a bench with the temper-tantrum child. I don't think she was staying at either resort... I think she just saw the boat and thought she'd get on. I'm not sure if she knew where she was going.

Rachel announced that she didn't mind the child, but the mother was getting on her nerves trying to soothe him. Another lady spoke up that she had been saying the same thing!

So after making it back to the resort, Rachel and I headed to the pool.

I thought it was funny that her bottoms completed his "chin"

Rachel and I grabbed chairs on the beach by the shoreline.

And I passed out.

After waking up, Rach and I started to swim in the Nanea pool, but then decided to seek out the quiet pool.

Which was thankfully warmer!

We had a reservation for La Hacienda.

Rachel made fun of me for photographing the chandeliers. I liked them.

DSC_2325 by vshingl, on Flickr

DSC_2326 by vshingl, on Flickr

We opted for the two 2-people entrees.

Rachel and Dad split La Hacienda (I apologize for the blurry pic - I was trying to be quick so no one would notice)...

DSC_2327 by vshingl, on Flickr

Mom and I split Del Mar...

DSC_2328 by vshingl, on Flickr

It was really, really good. We really enjoyed this restaurant, moreso than San Angel Inn. We appreciated the big glass windows that looked out over World Showcase Lagoon to the dark interior of the Mexican pavilion (which is the big draw for the restaurant). I highly recommend it.

I forgot to mention that on the monorail over, we had found three FPs to Soarin' that someone had left behind. Rach, Dad, and I went to use them, and Mother held our fireworks spot.

We came back after Soarin' and all of us were sitting down facing backwards - people came and made a "row" behind us. Well, when the show was about to start, obviously, we stood up. Then this really tall lady behind us made a really big deal about how we were standing (how were we going to see sitting down facing backwards?). Her daughter in the stroller goes, "It's fine, Mom - the fireworks are in the sky!" Way to go, optimistic child!

It turned out to be a great spot, very close to the action.
