I used to work for LL during the holidays, in the call-in order/catalog department. "Hello, thank you for calling LLBean, what is the number of the first item you'd like to order?" We are trained to accept whatever the customer says about having a coupon. If you regularly get a catalog you can call to place your order and tell them that your sister's catalog had a coupon for $10 off but yours didn't and they'll give you the discount. You can say your great aunt's cousin's brother's uncle's kindergarten teacher had a $10 off coupon but you don't... but can you get the discount anyhow? There's no way to check the validity of the caller's story, but we always extended the $10 off. You can also search online for a coupon and use whatever code you come up with. LL is VERY lax with regard to the coupon, and shipping is always free, 24/7/365; you don't need a coupon for that!
