Started my diet on 6/10/04. So far I have lost 5lbs and have not even started to work out yet. I started to keep track of what I eat during the day by writing it in a little journal I keep in the kitchen. This has helped me because I think twice about eating something I don't really need knowing I have to write it down. I keep track of the amount of water I consume during the day also making sure I drink at least 8 glasses a day. I also have started Slim Fast on and off. Some days I substitute 1 meal other days 2 meals.

My goal is to lose 95lbs by the time we take our kids on their 1st Disney trip. I am 5'8" and weigh 235lbs. I used to weigh 140 and always thought I was fat. I know I won't feel like that when I reach my goal. Last year I was at my heaviest just before I had my son. I was a whopping 270lbs. It has been very hard to lose weight with 2 kids so far. My biggest mistake has been snacking off their plate when they don't finish something. I know that sounds gross but I figured Hey, don't want it to go to waste.

Hi and welcome to WISH!

I'm a newbie too. The people on this forum are the best. If you need to chat, vent, need motivation or want to celebrate a success, put it down here!

I am just starting to read and post in other people's journals and it is very inspiring to see where people started in their WISH journeys and where they are now. I can't imagine losing 100 or more pounds, but there are folks here that have done that and more. The great thing is that we're all busy with our lives, but we know we need to form healthy lifetime habits, so we can support each other when need be.

Good luck on your new lifestyle....remember, it's not just for your Disney trip, it's for you!

Hi!
Sounds like you are doing well in the healthy eating department. Don't worry about the exercise, you'll get into it when you're ready. I'm glad you were able to get your gazebo up, I know how you can't tell men when they're obviously messing up...just let them muddle along..LOL. Sounds like it was a good workout though...hope you're not too sore!
Keep up the great work, especially writing down your food!
Best, Jean

D - baked chicken breast, rice, diet coke

I still did not find time to exercise but worked up a sweat mowing the lawn. Then I cleaned out our 55 gallon fish tank. My arms are sore from lifting those heavy buckets of water so that must have been helpful.

I am thinking of cutting my after dinner snack of ice cream even though it is light ice cream. I might try veggies or something. I got into the habit of eating ice cream when I was pregnant with my 1st child because I was always craving milk products. I just always have ice cream and I really don't need it.

It's a nice day out today and I am going to take a walk.

Thank you for your support Jean. It is nice to hear words of encouragment.

I took a walk around the neighborhood, probablly only a mile. I can't go to far because my DD likes to walk too. When I got home I did some upper body stuff on our home gym. I know I did not do a whole lot but you gotta start somewhere, right.

B - slimfast shake
S - diet coke, hard boiled egg
L - slimfast meal bar
S - diet coke, 1/2 bag small McD fries
D - chicken quesadillas, diet coke
S - celery w/PB

Today I drank a gallon of water. Is there such a thing as too much water? I better find out.

I was very good today. I took the kids to McDonalds and I did not order anything for myself. Usually I get a Big Mac meal. I did share a small bag of fries with my son though.

Tommorow I weigh myself. Doubt it if I lost anything because I just have not been able to exercise like I wanted to yet.

I finally decided that I am going to go back to wearing contacts. Calling for an appointment today. I noticed that when I switched to glasses in 1998 is when I started putting on the pounds. Maybe if I feel better about myself it will encourage me more to lose the weight.

My husband has been on vacation since 7/2 so I haven't had much time to get online. Having him home was not much help for my diet. He's always asking what are we having for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then he always wants to eat out. We went to a few BBQ s also. The good thing is I did not gain any weight but I stopped writing down what I have been eating. I'll try to start doing that again this week.
We went to the Bronx Zoo and the NY Aquarium so I did do alot of walking especially at the zoo. I was hurting the next day, so I definitely want to be in better shape before Disney.
