Lizards and spiders?

Ok, a question that my eldest just asked me - in early July, will she find lizards at Fort Wilderness? We have been to the resorts in summer, and hardly found any lizards the last few years, but she really enjoys catching them and looking at them (and I have to admit, of all the things she enjoys catching, the lizards and frogs are my favorites!).

She would also like to know if there will be any large spiders at Fort Wilderness, or does Disney clear them out or fumigate for them? Entomology is her major at university (study of bugs) and she has to collect bugs for her fall 2011 class on insect-something-or-other. All I know for sure is, she has to have lots of different insects, and spiders fascinate her, so she is hoping she can find a spider carcass or something that we don't have here in Northern IL. I think I better start looking for escape proof containers for the bugs she finds. Dead or not, I know those bugs are trying to hunt me down and hurt me!

I do not share her enthusiasm, but I will ask the questions for her!

I won't have ANYTHING to do with ANY spider! I don't normally see them, but I don't go off trapsing into the woods. Lizards....yes and yes. When we were there a couple of weeks ago we saw the tiniest little lizards I have ever seen (maybe a little less than an inch long). There were tons of them. Also lots of new baby frogs.

Well, if she doesn't find any spiders or lizards at the Fort, come on over to my house. It's about 15 minutes away. I've got plenty of spiders and lizards in the screened-in pool enclosure area. For some reason they like making webs in there. The lizards get in but can't figure out how to get out. I don't know if it's because it's a black bottom pool or what, but we have to have someone come in and get rid of them on a regular basis.

Thanks Magicbus, I think I just found a job for my daughter (and a way to get us to move to FL, 'cause if she is moving somewhere warmer, I am going with her!) - Lizard Catcher! She already pulls the frogs out of the neighbours' window wells around here, but lizards in a pool would be heaven for her!

Sounds like she will enjoy herself next July!

I live about an hour away so she is welcome to come catch lizards and spiders here too! I have been bitten twice recently by spiders (nice targets on my leg - typical bite). Last week we even had a bat in our pool cage...would she want that???? :)

I think I have seen some webs at the Fort and yes plenty of lizards! :)

hope you're ok! I was bitten by a brown recluse many years ago. Won't even go into details, but I was in hospital for a month & it was 1year for full recovery. Be careful.

Oh yeah,,all she hasta do is explore a little , she can find all kinda creepy crawlers around, :woohoo:

Yes, I am fine, thank you. It wasn't a recluse or widow....just a lot of itching! DH was bitten by a recluse while in the Guard and he has a nice scar to prove it!

I saw one of these in the CS a couple of years ago - stall #2 IIRC.
