Haven't seen this posted before so just wanted to share. Yesterday when we went to ride Living With the Land a staffer was waiting at boarding and gave our 4 year old son a captains hat and announced he was 'captain for the day.' We got a boat all to ourselves mainly because the boat ahead was full after taking everyone in line. We were all quite surprised and our son kept asking if he had to give the hat back at the end or if he could keep it. At the end a staffer met us with a card commemorating the event and date with our son's name (they must have overhead us) that was signed with personalized congratulations from all the staff working the ride.

Our son has loved this ride for the past year. Always a favorite even tho he always covers his eyes for the lightning at the start. He mainly likes having us describe all the plants to him. Personally I find the whole thing really relaxing.

Having him be captain was pretty special. Took a while but he finally agreed to be called captain and then came to like the idea very much.

I love these magical moments.

First time was our then pre-school age child being given a button to push at CA Grill at the start of Wishes fireworks. She was given the impression that she started the pyrotechnics.

Next time, we were running a bit late to attend Beauty & Beast show inside Hollywood Studios, but nevertheless, were approached by a Cast Member who informed us that we would definitely be getting good seats because our daughter had just been selected to be the 'little princess' who would be granted a velvet rose at the end of the performance from the Beast turned into a Prince and Princess Belle.

I guess this makes-up for the two times our daughter was selected to play the part of the Horse at Enchanted….Belle. Even at 5 y.o., she has vowed to never return.

Needless to say, we have no intention of going back to the Beauty & Beast show any time soon, because we might never be able to capture that magical moment again. Besides, our next journey to Disney is in summertime and we have decided to skip most things that are exclusively outside.

Very cool!! I've seen conductors of the day on trains but never captain. I had no idea they did this at Living with the Land, despite having ridden it a million times. Glad your son had a magical moment.
