Ok, many children dream of being different things when they grow, but some of us never live the dream. I am wondering if any of my fellow Disers have attempt, have, or currently working a job they dreamed of as a child?
I'll be the first to responsed as a young boy growing up we use to play Navy with the old boat in the back yard, and in 1990 I joined the Navy as a signalmen. I also dream of being a professional wrestler which I did for several years and included working at a wrestling school.

All I wanted to be from the time I was old enough to hold a doll was a mommy. Now I have three beautiful children, and I couldn't be happier. :goodvibes

All I ever wanted to do was be a nurse...and have been one for 15 years. I love my job (most days  ). I too wanted to be a mommy but was never able to have children of my own. It is very, very sad to me that I will never experience that joy.

I wanted to be Mrs. Walton off TV, staying at home taking care of loads of kids. After I had my third, my husband left, so I had to go back to school and raise them alone. I still always wanted more, though. In my job as a teacher, I've taken care of loads of kids, no doubt, but it just wasn't in the way I had planned. Turns out God's plan was better than mine, because I believe we are happier now that we would ever have been the way things were.

WonderfulDreamer2-I was posting while you were, and after I read your post, I felt a little guilty for wanting more. If I'm not being intrusive, have you considered adopting? It could be a wonderful option for you.

:grouphug: Please don't feel guilty. I did consider adoption at one time but that was with my first husband. I am now remarried to a wonderful man who has an 11yo daughter, so I get to be part time mommy when she's here. I'll be 40 this year and the desire to do 2am feedings and change diapers all day have faded quite a bit. I still will occasionally have that "pang" of want, but I'm happy with my life. I have 3 spoiled rotten fur babies and DH and I have become content with doing what we want, when we want and how we want. But I do cherish DsD and there is nothing I wouldn't do for her. I do have to say, after a few months of her visiting during the summer, I am relieved to have the house to myself again. But the minute she ever wants to move in with us, she's here. I made sure when we moved that she has her own room....not just a guest room....that she decorated and put her touches on. She knows this is her house too and she is never a visitor here, but a true part of this family.

Yes to answer your question.
I wanted to be a cop and I did that, until I was shot at and thought you know I am not getting paid enough to uphold the laws.

Now I own my business. Better money and I am not being shot at.

I know it will sound strange to some, but I decided when I was in the sixth grade that I wanted to be a secretary. In elementary school, I was chosen to work in the principal's office and absolutely loved it.

I guess you could say I'm living the dream, because I have been a secretary (now known as an administrative assistant) for more than 35 years:goodvibes

I always dreamed of working with dolphins and I did. I wish I still did but I'm okay with having the opportunity just to do it. Maybe once I get this kids out and on their own I will focus on my dreams again.

I wanted to be a wife and mom and to adopt a baby. All3 of my wishes have come true! :)
