Living in Anaheim

Does anyone else constantly look into moving to Anaheim? I live in Nevada and like to just look into moving to Anaheim so that way I can get an annual pass and be able to visit every weekend without needing to get a hotel room. Hopefully one day my dream will become reality, I would love to be able to just walk around Disneyland and not have to worry about fitting as much as I can into one Disney vacation. Now I just gotta convince the SO.

Where are you in Nevada? I live in Henderson! Anyway, yes and no. I like to imagine being able to go more frequently, but I don't want the magic to wear off for me, either. Also, Anaheim Hills has known geotechnical issues with the houses in that area. I've always heard Anaheim can be a little rough when you move away from the parks, but I have no personal experience to back that up and we haven't ventured far from the parks. Nevada is a much more affordable place to live than California, too, oh my goodness.

I know price is the only thing that stops me...
I just moved out of Henderson back to Vegas... so like 10 minutes away XD
And I have thought about the magic wearing off but I feel like I could never get bored of Disneyland. Plus if needed I could stop going for a couple months and then start going back.

I do. But I'd be happy with Vegas (since it's a halfway point for us). Or honestly anywhere closer to disneyland where there's no snow.
I know I don't live too far away but I would still need to get a hotel for the night or leave really early in the morning and then be driving back home really late which I just could not do. Although I have met quite a few people in Vegas that have AP's. It would just be much easier to live in Anaheim and have an AP.

Oh for sure. I was just saying for us. We're up in Utah so Vegas is our halfway. We've often wanted to live in Vegas anyway, not just for Disneyland...but it would be a perk! Somewhere in California close enough for weekend visits would be ideal tho. We've talked about when our kids are grown selling our house and getting an apartment out there somewhere. Being able to pop in just to sit and listen to the sounds of the park sounds dreamy.

Yes! I would love to just sit in the park, snap some pictures of the scenery and get something Disney-ey to eat and then be able to leave. I just feel like I don't get to fully take in Disneyland while I am there because its more of a rush to do everything you can before you have to leave and then wait another year before coming back.

Exactly. I watch all the youtube channels of the people who go all the time and I get so insanely jealous. They see all these little details I want to have time for but don't!

Remember, as long as you're dreaming, dream bigger! You don't have to live in Anaheim to be close to the parks, have a pass, and visit fairly frequently. We visit weekly on average and live much further away than Anaheim. Once you learn how to navigate the freeways and/or public transport to get the parks, your residence radius can be much wider.

I just need some palm trees. LOL

We were local AP holders for several years. We lived anywhere from 20 min to an hour away. It really is amazing, and I truly miss the benefit of being able to casually drop by Disneyland for a few hours. We used to have visits where we'd just go on one ride and spend the rest of the time eating dinner, people watching, walking around, taking pictures. Everything was at a much slower pace.

HOWEVER, I used to actually be jealous of the vacationers! I'd be standing in a line writing lesson plans on my phone (I'm a teacher) and talking and thinking about work, but they were on vacation. I felt like we never got to truly "escape" there. This intensified after we went to WDW for the first time and learned what a Disney vacation experience is really like. When we were locals, it was a little escape we fit into our day. Now it's a whole day experience. (Or 2 day, we haven't done DL for longer than that...yet.)

Now we live in northern CA. I like the area and the affordability much better than southern CA. To each their own, of course! But I am grateful that it's relatively easy to get to DL still. It's only a 7 hour drive, after all! ;)

I do sometimes wish we lived closer to WDW...that cross country plane flight makes that trip so expensive and wastes almost 2 entire days on travel, which is frustrating. Of course, closer to WDW means further from DL, so I'll take what we have.

I get how you felt, I used to work at a casino in Las Vegas, I used to get irritated seeing all the other people who would come in, relaxing, swimsuits on going to the pool. But I think if I lived in Anaheim, once a year minimum I would have to book a Disney hotel stay for a weekend. I enjoy the hotels as much as I enjoy the parks.

I lived in Anaheim and worked for DL. For me, it made it MORE MAGICAL. Learning how much went into making DLR what it is. Anytime I was there, working or not, I was always able to leave the world at the gate and be in the moment. I just moved from Henderson to Portland, OR. So, now I'm farther away, but we can actually enjoy where we live now. I do miss being a half day drive from home, but I get to enjoy it on another level. Maybe it's time to rack up some WDW visits. I've literally been to Disneyland more times than I can count.

Oh man, I love living in Henderson! I'm not born and raised here, either, I'm from East Tennessee. I've been living here for over 9 years now. I get that no place is for everyone, but I like the Las Vegas area. I would always want to live in Henderson, however.

We flew into Portland once so that we could visit the Evergreen Aviation museum in McMinnville and I thought the Portland area was really neat.

Why can't you guys grow palm trees in NM?

Lord knows my area is full of them!
