Live Trip Report: The go home part (Sept 8, 2016)

Let's go unda da seeeeaaaaa

Holy moly, Batman!! Nice view! One day maybe I'll stay at the GF but for the time being will "settle" for BWV Boardwalk views :)
The labor day rates were too good to pass up. Normally GF would be a pipedream.
Cool upgrade, what kind of room did you book? Of all the MK resorts GF is my favorite, I'm an Epcot/HS kind of gal so I stay at BC/YC now but have stayed at all the MK resorts in the past. Love your view. Is a show getting ready to start.
I just booked a standard room. I had no expectations beyond a bed to lay in and a shower to clean up in. Everything beyond that has been icing on the cake. I'd love to stay in an Epcot resort! I spend most of my time there anyway! There was a show about to start, so it looks busier than it is. Crowd levels aren't horrible so far.
Love the view... One day we will stay at GF one day... Yea it's not worth waiting 70 min for. Thanks goodness for fast passes. Hope the weather holds out!!!!
It's raining again! Argh! I have a dinner reservation at The Wave, so i think now is a good time to mosey on over.

I've erred on the side of caution and arrived about half an hour early. No worries, early is good. I forgot about the Contemporary scent. I quite like it. What I haven't noticed in the past is how the check-in area looks suspiciously like an airport concourse check-in, complete with people in ill fitting suits. Also, the ceilings are unusually low. It feels a little claustrophobic in this lobby, especially when compared to GF's wide open atrium like lobby.

I always think leashes on kids are a goofy idea, until I see little kids running amok at Disney, and suddenly they seem like brilliant ideas.

I don't know what it is about Disney, but I have a bad habit of leaving my fly down after using the restroom.

This is one of the things I love about The Wave. It's five o'clock and its me and two other tables. I'm happy this is still a hidden treasure.

Starting with a little bread and butter topped with Hawaiian sea salt. The bread is soft and delicious and the butter has a nice flavor. One minor complaint: the butter is chilled and rock hard. Trying to spread it tears the bread. I cut small chunks and made a little butter sandwich. Effective, sure, but clunky.

Bacon and egg appetizer. A cube of pork served with an egg that appears poached, on top of cheddar grits. I'm not a fan of grits. Generally, they're gross in taste and texture. These are phenomenal. I want to drink my head in a bucket of them. The egg is a perfect compliment. The pork is the weakest part of the dish, but mainly because it's normal. It tasted just fine, but lacked the "wow" of the grits and egg. Hardly a bad thing though.

Sea scallops with risotto. The scallops are cooked perfect. I've never had risotto before. I'm iffy on it. The texture is weird. The flavor is good, but each bite feels odd.

If this were a buffet, I would pile the scallops onto a plate so high that I would need a forklift to move the plate back to the table. And I'd do it at least three times.

Why do people not come here? The food is amazing and the service is awesome, and it never seems to be crowded. This place is probably my favorite restaurant on property.

There's an older couple complaining that they don't have O'Douhls. It's what beer drinkers drink when they're not drinking beer.

I have been browsing the boards today more than normal and there has been many mentions of The Wave. I am going to make it a must visit on our next trip. I am not a grits fan either and living in the south that's almost unheard of. Maybe I'll try those of you want drink your head in a bucket of them :)

I've lived in the South for almost 20 years. I've had countless people convince me to try grits because they're supposedly good when prepared right. These are the first grits that I've tried where I would happily take more and totally recommend them. They're seriously delicious.
