Weird about Pop, I was very impressed with their food court last month. Amazing how things change! (But the spread at Poly Club Level looked much tastier!...as it should!!!)

Hope you enjoyed Jiko! Man, I wish I was having that tonight!!!!

Enjoying the reviews !!! Sorry about the bad food at Pop !! In all my stays there I have had good luck mainly with the food !!I haven't eaten much breakfst food there though!!One thing didn't like to much was the shrimp lomein! It was hot and fresh but not very tasty!!I do love the chicken alfredo there. Also one time they had a flatbread special with shrimp and it was to die for !!!

Gee I dont check out the dining reviews for a few days and almost missed a new MickeyNicki one!! and you are already on page 7!!!

Happy Anniversary :goodvibes..glad that you got to take your DH along on the trip!!!:) Looking foward hearing about how your dinner at Jikos is!!! enjoy!

I've read your other reviews. Looking forward to this one. Thanks for posting the bounceback info. I am going to the WDW website and figure out what 45% off a cabin will be. :thumbsup2 I will be at POP in less than three weeks. :cool1: Sorry the food there was disappointing. We don't plan on eating at the food court much anyway.

Happy to help! I need to try and book something before we leave, even though I know DH will change it on me later...

Happy Belated Anniversary! I cheered when I read Todd got to go. :) Really looking forward to reading all your reviews--your report is really helping me count down for my upcoming trip in 10 days!!!

Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful trip too!

Hi
Happy Anniversary!! It seems like I just read your F&W reviews!!. I'm enjoying reading these so far and can't wait for more. I love the Cinnamon rolls at Pop. I had one in August and it was heated and delicious. But I'm tired of Pop, so I think my DD and DGD (6) will be staying at a moderate for now on. (Would love to stay at Poly sometime). Have a great trip!!

Now mods we really enjoy, especially POFQ...I think we are giving up on the values though.

Aloha! I adore the Poly, and CL looks like a dream come true. :cloud9: Loving the photos of the GF gingerbread house. That's one of my favorite holiday decorations; now I'm even more anxious for the next 3 weeks to fly by! I need to stop wishing my life away!

I haven't tried Jiko yet. Can't wait to read your review! Happy Anniversary!

CL is a dream come true, it is just amazing...I wish there were more resort decor up though, the POP was decked out this morning but nothing at all at the Poly...oh well at least I am here!

I am SO late!!! Oh well.... better late than never ;) It's great that Todd got to go on the trip! I was keeping my fingers crossed for you! Can't wait to hear about your trip and the food!

Hey Ang! You can come late to the party anytime!

Nicki I am in. I just love your reviews and have never chimed in before. I am so glad you are there, as I can relive Disney! You are the DIS Princess!

Welcome to the party and thanks for the nickname, I love it!

You and Todd have to have at least one pic for your anniversary. Hopefully by the end of the trip he will be "feeling it" and you can get your picture.

My husband and I have talked about staying CL at AKL next time we go alone - meaning without my family that keeps tagging along. :lmao:

AKL is our home resort as we are DVC. You'll have to let us know if you think it is worth the extras. Thanks for the great update. Can't wait for Jiko!

We did take some PP pics at the AKL tonight, I am waiting until tomorrow at the MVMCP to purchase them because the PP guy told me they would be 40% off if I bought them at a party. I hope you get to the AKL CL one day, we loved it when we stayed last year.

Patiently waiting for updates....popcorn::Can't wait for more amazing pictures

More updates coming up!

Weird about Pop, I was very impressed with their food court last month. Amazing how things change! (But the spread at Poly Club Level looked much tastier!...as it should!!!)

Hope you enjoyed Jiko! Man, I wish I was having that tonight!!!!

I may have caught it on an off night/day but I will tell you there are other resort CS places that we like so much better.

Happy Anniversary :goodvibes Hope you have a great meal at jiko.

Thank you!

They had a reuben flatbread but it looked a bit weird so I skipped it...I wish they would serve breakfast at dinner time so I could get scrambled eggs and croissants!

Gee I dont check out the dining reviews for a few days and almost missed a new MickeyNicki one!! and you are already on page 7!!!

Happy Anniversary :goodvibes..glad that you got to take your DH along on the trip!!!:) Looking foward hearing about how your dinner at Jikos is!!! enjoy!

Blink and you miss so much on the Dis! Glad to have you!

I was soooo surprised and excited when I saw your thread EARLY!!! My food porn idol. :worship: (it's quite funny when DH & I discuss where we might eat on our next trip, I feel I'm always saying, "well, Mickey Nicki said....) Woo hoo, bring it on! :cool1: Hopefully all your bad meals are behind you. Happy Anniversary!

While at the Gingerbread house we decided to purchase some gifts for the kids and friends...they have a little menu booklet to look at the prices

We dropped a small fortune but it was worth it! I have to go back and get another chocolate Mickey because SOMEONE who will remain nameless ate it while I was getting ready for dinner!

We made it to Gasparilla Grill and it was dead quiet in there, plenty of outdoor seating and the weather is just gorgeous so we sat outside to eat lunch...look at the view from our table.

I still was not that hungry (seriously what the heck is up with that) and I ordered the cheese pizza...this was awesome! Made to order, very cheesy, great sauce, lots of herbs and tons of flavor....DH loved it too.

Afternoon041.jpg

DH ordered the Italian Foccacia and liked it but thought there was too much pesto for him. All the Italian meats were represented, the freshest, reddest, tastiest tomatoes, romaine lettuce, provolone and vinagrette and pesto on a basil foccacia...I had a few bites and it was terrific, loaded with flavor...I am a pesto queen so I was all for the overload of pesto! He really loved the cucumber salad...tons of flavor and nice and cold and crisp.

Look at how cute the Xmas cups are!

Is it sad that the cups gave me a little rush of excitement for my upcoming Christmas time trip? Wow! :-) :santa: I LOVE Disney, especially at Christmas time!!!

Since we had a late dinner at Jiko planned we decided to check out the Poly Lounge a little after 5pm..it was empty, again this was a great thing!

Hummus and Pita Rounds...very good!

Sweet citrus salad with orange segments, this was to die for!

Afternoon070.jpg

Alcohol cocktail, fruit juice and champagne...very sweet, Todd loved it

Afternoon068.jpg

Celery, carrots and cucumbers with ranch dressing

Afternoon075.jpg

Pineapple with caramel..the pineapple was incredible...super sweet and wonderful and the caramel ruined it, it is way too sweet and the pineapple did not taste as good with it.

Afternoon076.jpg

Afternoon072.jpg

Assorted cheeses and crackers and fruit...Todd was in heaven and I had to remind him not to fill up because we had a celebration dinner to look forward to!

We were super impressed with the lounge offerings, the neatness of the lounge and the awesome staff that are always there to help. Cannot wait to see what they have tomorrow!

Why thank you so much for your kind words! I do that too...Tell DH "so and so said this and so and so said that"...it helps me plan so much! I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be no more icky food!

Is it sad that the cups gave me a little rush of excitement for my upcoming Christmas time trip? Wow! :-) :santa: I LOVE Disney, especially at Christmas time!!!

Not at all! I got to get the new popcorn bucket from MK tomorrow! It is all Xmassy and cute!

It looks sooooo good !!!

Oh babe it was!

We are celebrating our anniversary every day while here and I had booked us dinner at Jiko for tonight..DH and I ate here for the first time last Oct for my birthday and we both fell in love with the place.

We drove our own car, not paying valet at the Poly because the entire parking lot is empty and my car is right up front...this is great!

We did the TIW valet at AKL and they remembered us...or should I say, the car. They love driving my baby, Pontiac GTO, and they said they hardly ever get any "hot" cars (their words not mine) and they always remember when one comes through. DH was just cracking up.....see his car is much hotter than mine but everyone always likes mine better ..ha ha!

THere was a photopass person in the lobby so I batted my eyes and pulled the "but its our anniversary trip" thing and we took some pictures but I will not get them until tomorrow at the MVMCP.

We checked into a very empty, I mean ghost town, restaurant. They were not seating in the wine room because it was so slow. The bar was empty, the upstairs lounge was empty and Boma was half full...and it is after 7pm.

We sat way in the back and our server was MIA the entire night....this didnt sit well with us because we felt ignored and forgotten about.

We received Anniversary buttons and a card from the staff

DH had a glass of Champagne and I had a Hanging out in Cape Town martini. DH loved his drink and mine was made with Ketel 1, peach schnapps and cranberry juice....omigod it was so strong I was blitzed at first sip. It was shaken and poured table side and it was soooo cold and good that I admit, I gulped it...and the second sip was also a gulp and then it hit me....I finally slowed down and relaxed (cuz I am a bit hyper ) One drink was enough for me.

DinnerJiko006.jpg

The bread was 2 styles, a flax seed ciabatta that we didnt like and a sweet cinnamon butter with tandori butter that was amazing, like dessert as a first course, very "Fall Like" and we ate almost all of it.

DinnerJiko007.jpg

DH had filled up a bit too much at the Poly lounge (dont listen to me pal, never do so why start now right?) but I was getting hungry (finally!) and ordered the Jiko salad. It was the best ever! Fresh greens, edible flowers, candied walnuts, onions, soft pears that tasted like beer (I swear they did but it was a good taste) with an apple vinagrette....it was amazing and Todd loved it too...the portion was huge so I shared.

DinnerJiko008.jpg

We each ordered the filet with mac and cheese medium and both were cooked perfectly, very tender but the flavor was terrible. Bitter and BBQ flavored, almost smoke like and neither one of us remember it being cooked that way. It was overpowering so we each ate the middle which didnt taste so strong. The macaroni was gummy and the sauce was so thick and strong and bitter....we didnt enjoy it at all and if our server ever came around we would have sent them back. DH was grumbling that he wants to go to Flying Fish from now on...he has had the NY Strip there three times and he loved it each time....oh well, live and learn.

DinnerJiko014.jpg

Our server finally showed and Todd had coffee, I stuck to water and we shared the coffee ice cream with cinnamon donuts...WOW this was the best! The coffee ice cream was unlike anything I have had before, very strong and not too sweet...perfect! Like eating a frozen coffee. The donuts were something you would find in Heaven :cloud9: served hot, they were very flavorful, not greasy and very light.

DinnerJiko016.jpg

And we received an anniversary treat from Jiko...a mini pistachio creme brulee...it was ok, they burned the sugar on top.

DinnerJiko015.jpg

While we enjoyed our appies and dessert I think we will not be back to Jiko anytime soon....all DH kept talking about was FF, BlueZoo and Il Mulino....so those three are going to be our must do places from now on.

I cannot believe how empty the restaurant was either....when we left they were taking walk ins as was Boma.....

We made it back to our room and I realized we didnt have any water so we walked to the lounge and the CM gave us a huge bottle of Evian to take back to the room...we didnt eat any of the snacks but of course I had to take pictures. Oh but I did have an Aramula....does that count? :goodvibes

Tomorrow we are going to have breakfast in the lounge, hang at the pool and have lunch at Kona...then appies in the Poly Lounge, head over to the MVMCP...if we are hungry for dinner we will go to Peco Bill's and then the Dessert Party...We plan on staying until midnight so while I will update during the late afternoon I may not finish until the next day!

Good night you guys and thanks for following along with us!

That view from the Poly is AMAZING! The Poly is my dream resort...one day, I will be there...one day...

Sorry the dinner at Jiko wasn't so tasty...here's to hoping your other meals are killer!!

I'm heading to Kona in a few weeks - never been there. Looking forward to that and the dessert party. We're going there on the night of our MVMCP!
