Sorry Jiko wasn't the greatest :( I hope the rest of the meals are better :)
The Poly views are beautiful:cloud9:

I hope so too...the Poly is just amazing and the elves came out last night and decorated the entire lounge and main lobby!

Nicki Sorry to hear that your meal Jiko's wasnt so good...at least the salad and dessert were (that salad look delicious!)...I hate poor service...I think that service is part of the whole experience...

There is nothing like being at WDW during the holidays...everything just seems extra special!

On our last trip we ate at Citricos for the first time in a very long time..and we loved everything...the food...the atmosphere and the service! It is now on the must do list for future trips...

BTW the food in the Poly lounge looks great..lots of options...especially in the evening...

Have fun at MVMCP tonight....

I agree, when you eat at a signature place you expect to get treated very well..but we were ignored. I cannot wait to eat at Citrico's, this is the one meal I am really looking forward to! I cannot wait to see what the Poly has lounge has in store for us tonight!

Is that a new dessert at Jiko? Looks delicious!!!

I think it is and it was wonderful!

Loving the reviews so far Nicki! :)

So sorry to hear about your meal at Jiko. The last time we were there in Oct we found the service to be lacking. However, the food was still great. Sadly, no meal there has quite lived up to the first one. Of the signature restaurants I've tried I would rank them:

1. Victoria & Albert's
2. California Grill
3. Jiko/Flying Fish
4. Yachtsman Steakhouse

In terms of food I think that Jiko is the most interesting in terms of food outside of Victoria & Albert's. But the service is hit and miss as is the consistency.

That is how we feel about Flying Fish, BlueZoo and Il Mulino and oh yea, Fultons...those are the best ones for us so far.

Good morning, hon. Sorry I missed you last night...I went to bed at 8:30--not feeling well. I'm sorry your "anniversary" dinner didn't live up to expectations (perhaps those King Crab Claws would have been a better choice ;) ).

Love the Christmas cups...too cute. Have a drink at the pool for me today. :)

I hope you are feeling better today! More reviews and a very special surprise is coming up!

So disappointed that your anniversary meal wasn't all you expected it to be. We have a ressie at Jiko in December and it's one that we are (still) most looking forward to---so I hope we aren't disappointed. We will all end up getting entrees, but the appetizers are what I'm really excited about trying. That salad and the little donuts look GOOD!

Hopefully the rest of the dining experiences are better. Can't wait to read more. :thumbsup2

I was too, DH was really looking forward to the filet. That salad was out of this world, I would go back for drinks, apps and desserts!

So sorry about Jiko...sounds like you had our server, was his name Omar? We had a terrible meal in June as well. the apps were good and had they had that dessert maybe that would have been better. we got the filet as well and felt the same...bad flavor, gummy mac and cheese and nasty sauce. We won't be going back...but Boma was fabulous. Loving your reviews as always!

Our server was an older bald man named Michael....thank you for reconfirming what we had last night, at least I am not losing my mind!

Nicki, I have to tell you that I love your reports:lovestruc the first time I found the dis you were doing one, and that was what started my food porn/review addiction, so thank you very very much for taking the time to do them. I was really sad you didn't make it to fulton's, I was really wanting to see more of their yummy food. I also have a quick question about them, and if you don't mind thought I would ask the pro, I want to eat there, but will only be able to do it at lunch, and nothing on that menu really does it for me, do you know if I could order off the dinner menu? Thanks again I can't wait to read more:banana::banana::banana:

You said the nicest things and I appreciate it and am happy that you enjoy reading them, hope it helps with your planning! I will give you a hint about Fultons, we are going but I cannot tell ya when until I update my posts! I know they will let you custom order for dinner so I bet they will let you do it for lunch too!

Thanks for posting the things for sale at the Grand Floridian, Nicki! I think those cute little chocolate boxes with truffles will make the PERFECT gift for my inlaws! I am meeting them for the first time on this vacation!

Can't wait to read how the dessert party goes. We have ressies there on Monday. I sent poor Brenda a message earlier asking her where to go for it. Everyone here is so nice, my own personal travel agents who are in the know!!! :goodvibes

Wow that is going to be fun for you! They are just so adorable I had to buy many of them and secretly I will give one to DH cuz he is dying to break into one! DH is getting antsy about the dessert party, he cannot wait to go!

Happy Anniversary! Sounds like you are having a great trip! Sorry Jiko didn't live up to your expectations this time. I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip! Enjoy the dessert party!

I am headed down in 10 days with my husband, three stepdaughters, 2 sons-in-law, 1 boyfriend & 2 grandsons....can't wait!!!!

Thanks for always sharing your trips with us! Enjoy!

Maribell

Hi Maribell! Thanks for the anniversary wishes, we are celebrating every day! I hope you have a wonderful trip and make sure and share it with the rest of us!

Subscribing! We'll be staying Poly CL next December, so I'm hoping your good experience is repeated for us in about 12 months. :goodvibes

You will LOVE it! DH said he wants to stay here the next time we plan a trip!

Oh no! Jiko is the one place that I was really looking forward to! I bet they use Liquid Smoke and I'm guessing they used a little too much! Boo! Now, I'm debating canceling our res. We are paying OOP for dining this trip and I do not want to waste money on something that I will not be happy with!

I bet the used it too...that is exactly what it tasted like...way too much. I wish we went to Flying Fish instead...$82 on the filets were a waste.

I have the best husband in the entire world!

Do you know what the little love muffin did while I was getting ready for the pool? He said he needed coffee asap and I told him I would meet him downstairs.....He went downstairs to the Conceirge and booked us 2 more nights here! We will check out late Tues instead on Sunday and I am thrilled....

Since he has to work straight through the holidays he felt he owed me one and extended our anniversary trip...did I marry a King or what? What an anniversary gift, 7 days at the Poly CL!!!!

The IPO called the main office and asked if we could keep the same rate code, $350 a night and Todd said at first they were not going to do it but the IPO said they were only at 70% occupancy as of Sunday so there shouldnt be any reason why we couldnt keep the rate...and they agreed and he got it!

Now you know we had to add more dining on right? We booked San Angel Inn lunch for him, Fultons dinner for him and changed our LTT from Sun to Tues before we leave...and who knows what else we will add in here or there.

I tried for Cape May but they only had 9pm and I tried for Beirgarten but they only had 4pm and 8:40pm..oh well I am happy with what we have!

This means more reviews for you guys!

Nicki, the Poly CL looks devine ....... lucky you! But on the other hand this is how the food review godess should reside! ;)

I was really shocked about Jiko! There had been a few really good reviews and the filet with the mac and cheese looked interesting, but now I might have to change that!

Enjoy your day today! Remember that it is freezing here - :scared1: while you enjoy a nice drink at the pool! :goodvibes

Yipppeee! More reviews for us! Can't wait to read about Fultons and San Angel, two places we're thinking of adding to our dining adventures next summer.

What a wonderful morning! I open the door to the lounge and see the elves were working hard all night long!

And to top it off my hubby surprises me with 2 more nights and then we get to dine with a view like this!

I swear I could live like this every day!

Breakfast was pretty good, OJ, coffee, tea for me, bagel, oatmeal and cinnamon buns for DH, fruit and raisin bran for me. The lounge was very busy this morning but lucky me I snagged the table right by the windows

MorningNoon008.jpg

After our breakfast we went to the Volcano pool, the slide was down but we hung out in the hot tub area for a long time...the pool was pretty much empty. There was a young girl, around 8 or so, and she came over to sit with us and we chatted, she was so cute. She asked me which resort I was staying in...I thought she meant building, so I told her Hawaii...she asked where that was and I pointed and said over there...she said her family is staying at the Music...I said oh, what are you doing at this pool? She said her mother takes her to different pools every morning and at noon they go to the parks, yesterday she said she was at the Pirate Ship Pool..I am thinking the BC right? So there are hoppers out there and no one is checking them.

We moved over to the quiet pool after a bit and we from 11am to 12:40 we were the only ones there...it was just what we needed!

And then it was stomach rumbling time and we headed to the main house for Kona! It was all Xmassy in there too!

MorningNoon031.jpg

:thumbsup2 for the elves and all their hard work! It looks amazing!!! Thanks for sharing.

I can't believe how empty the pool area is! What a change from the time we "have to" visit WDW! (I mean have to, because we need to stick to my vacation time frame!!)

Can't wait for that Kona review! We have never been for lunch - this is going to be so interesting!
Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ........ and come back to us soon!;)

We arrive at Kona right on time, the place was empty...maybe 3 other tables occupied. We had a great server who was very attentive..sadly they do not serve bread and butter for lunch, I asked and they said no :sad1:

MorningNoon019.jpg

MorningNoon020.jpg

MorningNoon021.jpg

MorningNoon022.jpg

MorningNoon023.jpg

I had the Malibu Macaw...it was excellent!

MorningNoon024.jpg

DH had the pina colada...the Poly has the best ones we have ever had! Must be the glass they serve it in!

MorningNoon025.jpg

I ordered the teriyaki steak salad...it was fantastic. Loaded with tender teriyaki steak, greens, tomatoes, cheese and a great soy sauce/teriyaki sauce salad dressing and the shell was a huge wonton, excellent!

MorningNoon027.jpg

Todd had the Lunch plate with pan fried chicken, mango sauces, sticky rice and macaroni salad...OMIGOD this was the best chicken I have ever had! A huge chicken breast, lightly breaded and so tender it melted in your mouth, the rice was perfect, the sauces were amazing and the macaroni salad was A+++ and had a nice spicy kick to it. As much as I loved my salad I would order this the next time. We are trying to fit this into our schedule again this week.

MorningNoon026.jpg

We cleaned our plates, literally not a grain of rice on the plate or a scrap of salad on mine! Of course we had to get dessert!

MorningNoon028.jpg

The banana chocolate creme brulee...holy moly this was the best brulee I have ever had. The banana was nice and sweet and not soft and mushy, there is a nice chocolate fudgy base with banana cream on top and lightly burnt on top...it was the way all creme brulees should be! :thumbsup2

MorningNoon029.jpg

Kona gets a humongous thumbs up from us, very relaxing atmosphere, very good food and excellent service. I am so glad I picked this place for our TS lunch for a pool day and a party night! If you can get the chance to go there make sure you do...100% better at lunch than dinner.

We went back to our room after making some dinner ressies and stopped in the lounge for water and they had cheese popcorn...DH had to get some, thats his favorite!

MorningNoon032.jpg

DH is napping, I am playing around and chilling out. We will go to the lounge at 5pm for appies and then head over to MK for our party :woohoo: I think we will have dinner at Peco Bills if we get hungry and of course, the DESSERT PARTY!

Your lunch at Kona looks absolutely scrumptious (and that says a lot coming from me as I have no taste to eat any food with my throat right now). Would you suggest breakfast or lunch at Kona? Mark's always wanted to go for the breakfast??? :confused3

And give Todd a big kiss from me for making my good friend, Nicki, a happy girl. Have a blast at the party tonight--we wish we were there with you.

All I can say is :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Yup thats what I said!

Woo hoo! What a man! Give him extra kisses from us of us too!

Oh I sure will!

Todd, you rock!!

He is the bestest!

:goodvibes

I really think I am a spoiled brat..but in a good way :rotfl: You should come to WDW, it is 80 and sunny!

Yipppeee! More reviews for us! Can't wait to read about Fultons and San Angel, two places we're thinking of adding to our dining adventures next summer.

Oh you will love them! SAI is great at lunch but I dont care for the dinner menu at all.

It is so magical...one minute there are no decorations and I wake up and boom, there they are! I love pool days, I think we will do that again on Sat and Mon too!

yay Todd! Awesome that you are staying two more days! How perfectly perfect! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

It is too much for me to take in!

Honestly I would suggest lunch and you know how much we love breakfast there but at lunch it is so quiet and relaxing and the food is awesome. We are supposed to have breakfast there tomorrow so my views could change  I hope you get well soon and how is my boy Mark doing? I wish you guys were here too...think about how much trouble the 4 of us could get into!

Todd is awesome, I am so happy for you guys that you get to stay a couple more days.

And it is so nice to hear a good review of Kona. :goodvibes

OMG!! I am sooo happy for you!! Yep, you've got a keeper! Of course, he would not do this if he didn't have a keeper in you! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Kona looks scrumptious! Last time we stayed at the Poly was Dec 2007, had a fabulous room, but said I'd never stay CL....if this old pocketbook ever has enough small change ;) you can bet will put toward a Poly CL stay after seeing your reviews.

Nicki, your reviews are absolutely the best - it even make those of us stuck at home happy! Thanks so much.:grouphug:

just remember, you get what you deserve in life, and you desrve all these good things, you make a lovely couple:hippie:

totally agree about Kona for lunch...we ate there about 3 weeks ago and had a great time, but Grand floridian cafe is even better for lunch IMHO.

looking forward to the rest!popcorn::

Kona lunch would be perfect, except for the absence of my favorite bread and butter. That's why we always end up booking dinner instead. But you've convinced me...I simply must try the chicken plate lunch. It looks so good! We'll be trying Kona for lunch in December, I believe!

And here's 3 cheers for 2 extra nights of Poly CL! :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1 I'll drink to that!

Nicki What a guy... what a nice surprise!!! I think he is a keeper as they say!!!!

That lunch at Kona looks yummy! Oh that creme brulee...We have always eaten at Kona for dinner...but I think I will have to add a lunch there too!

Your reviews are terrific as usual...thank you!!! Cant wait to hear about the dessert party...:)
