Live streaming from Fort Wilderness...what wireless device do you use?

Hi all. We are in the market for a wireless internet card. We always live stream from Fort Wilderness, and from other places too. We have used a Sprint wireless card in the past and, at times, its been great, and at other times, the video was choppy. Currently, I am looking at the no contract wireless cards that Virgin Mobile provides. Does anyone have experiences with these devices, and if so, how are they. I like the idea of the MIFI, but wonder about the streaming speed.

So, for anyone that has done live streaming, what wireless internet device have you used and how was your experience. Looking for the good, the bad and the ugly as far as experiences with any/all of the data cards out there.

Thanks everyone and just remember there's something in it for you all too...Fort Wilderness live, in real time.:cool1::yay::banana:

I'm curious about this as well. I do web work and usually stream some things. I assumed it wouldn't be worth bothering with on the road, but I'd like to be proven wrong!

One thing I have read is that the virgin mobile devices use the Sprint network so you may not see any difference.

That is correct. Virgin sells Sprint's 3G network under its own brand Virgin Mobile, similar to how Sprint resells Clearwire's 4G network under its own brand. Reselling other company's networks is pretty common, for example Comcast and Time Warner also sell Clearwire's 4G service as if it was their own 4G network.

If you are looking for pre-paid 3G, I have heard pretty good things about Virgin, although may not be fast enough if you want to be streaming video all day long. Another pre-paid option is Rover, which launched a few months ago and actually runs off of Clearwire's 4G network. Typically 4G is better for streaming, but the only downside is that 4G coverage isn't quite as full as 3G networks so you would want to check a coverage map to see if you are covered.
