Live or artificial tree

I was reading part of another post about when you all put up your Christmas Trees. I was surprised at how early some go up. Since we always have a real tree, we do not put it up until two weeks before Christmas. Do you have a real or artifical tree?

I've always had real ones until we moved into an apartment about 5 years ago. We recently bought a house so I could switch back but I've gotten so I like putting the tree up early and not watering it, or worrying about fires, etc. So, I think we'll stick with our fake one and maybe get an extra one this year now that I have the room!

I'm actually allergic to pine trees but I always put up with it because I love the smell of a real tree!

We normally have artificial trees & put them up the first Sunday in December.....Although i had to bin them in January this year as they had seen better days....Hopefully if i can talk him round we will have real trees this year, with roots so they can be planted, or used again....

Artificial. We did a real one our first year in the house & after fighting w/ pine needles & sap for months afterwards, we switched to a fake tree. I'll never go back!

Fake. Real ones are very messy, especially when going up a flight of stairs. Also it's much safer for my three cats to eat fake needles versus real ones, when and if one is knocked loose from the tree.

Artificial because of my daughters allergies. I like fake because the kids love to help bring it out of the attic and get it all ready to decorate!

We used to have real trees every year, put them up on Dec. 2, my birthday. Last year, with 3 kids and the pain that it is to go out and find one and never getting one I really like, we went out and bought a fake, pre-lit one. The BEST thing we ever did. I mean I love the smell of the real ones, but it takes about 2 minutes to get it together and put up straight up in the stand and there's no watering and no mess. Plus, not having to but those dang lights on is great. I grew up with a fake tree so I don't really feel like I'm missing anything either.

DH wants an artificial one, but it's completely non-negotiable for me.

My mom always bought fake trees and I always thought I would get a real tree when I had my own house. Then my best friend, who was a year older than me and married, bought a real tree for their first C'mas together. Some kind of bug had laid eggs under the bark of her tree and she had to call the exterminator three days before C'mas to fumigate her house. It was sooo gross!!


I decided to NEVER have a real tree after that! My C'mas tree is a really nice 7ft. pre-lit one with white lights. Plus I never have to worry about my kids eating the needles.

Will never have an artificial. Would go without a tree before I went to artificial. They don't look real, and I love the smell of a real tree. And it's so much fun to go searching for that "perfect one" all bundled up at night, on a lot filled with Christmas lights. That's part of Christmas that I just couldn't give up. We have an artificial one, left in the basement from when my stepdad moved in, but like with so many other things I have managed to convert him to the real stuff.

After years of real trees - the first year we were in our current house, I kept watering, not knowing that the water was going in one side and flowing right onto the hardwood floor on the opposite side! I swore that was the last real tree - got an eight-foot pre-lit and love it!

We bought a fake tree last year on clearance after Christmas so this year will be our first fake tree. We used to put up a real tree about a week before Christmas but now we can put it up after Thanksgiving and enjoy it for alot longer. I was tired of cleaning the needles and watering it.
